With the Stargirl and The Flash crossover, the Arrowverse can finally solve the Jesse Quick mystery post-Crisis on Infinite Earths. The last crossover event that the Arrowverse had was Crisis on Infinite Earths, which served as a massive game-changer for The CW and Warner Bros. The five-part event not only connected past, present, and future DC projects within the same Multiverse, but it extended Arrowverse’s longevity as well. It also did something interesting for Stargirl several months before it premiered on DC Universe and The CW. Through a montage, the new Arrowverse Multiverse was teased, and one of the Earths was Courtney Whitmore’s Earth-2.

While it had been destroyed by the Anti-Monitor, Oliver Queen brought it back as the Spectre, but with a twist. Despite being a DC Universe original, Crisis on Infinite Earths made it clear that Stargirl is more part of the Arrowverse than some shows outside The CW. Through a brief cameo of Courtney and the revived Justice Society of America, it set up the idea that, one day, they could encounter other Arrowverse characters. So far there haven’t been any more crossovers due to the fact that the heroes of Earth-Prime don’t know about the new Multiverse. As far as they know, their Earth is the only one that exists after Crisis on Infinite Earths.

However, Stargirl season 2 will be making its first Arrowverse crossover later this year. John Wesley Shipp, who has been on The Flash as several characters, will be back as Jay Garrick but, this time, on Stargirl. After making a single appearance in The Flash season 6, Jay’s status has been unknown until recently. Jay will be appearing in Stargirl season 2, episode 9, but so far, only in flashbacks as part of a pivotal story. While it will establish that Jay has always been Earth-2’s Golden Age Flash, there is another speedster who has been absent: Jesse Quick.

Violett Beane’s Jesse Quick hasn’t been on The Flash for a few seasons, especially after Crisis, since her version of Earth-2 was destroyed. While her father, Harry Wells, exists inside Nash Wells, it’s unclear what has happened to her. That is where the upcoming The Flash/Stargirl crossover can come in to finally establish her status. Given that Jesse is a member of the Justice Society in the comics, it’d only make sense if she becomes part of the new iteration of the team. If the episode establishes that Jay isn’t alive in the present time, it’d pave the way for Beane’s character to pop up on Stargirl in the future.

Thanks to Crisis, this could be the way Jesse returns to the Arrowverse, but in perhaps a more expanded way. Since The Flash focuses mostly on Barry Allen, Jesse could be the speedster of Stargirl going forward, and even help Courtney on her world. Even if Jay isn’t dead in the present-day, Jesse could still be brought into the new JSA and become their new Flash, of sorts. While it’s unlikely that Beane will be appearing in that same episode, it’d be appropriate for Stargirl to at least tease if this Earth-2 has a Jesse Chambers. Since that was originally her Earth designation, that is a mystery Stargirl can finally answer for The Flash while also setting up a potential future story arc for Jesse Quick.
