Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin – Why Bahamut Was Cut

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a retelling of the original Final Fantasy, yet one of the most iconic characters from the series has been cut from the game. Bahamut is a recurring Final Fantasy character who has appeared in almost every game in the series, and he appeared in FF1. However, Bahamut doesn’t appear in Stranger of Paradise.

Bahamut usually appears as a powerful Final Fantasy summon monster. There are also occasions where the player must face Bahamut in combat, in order to earn the right to summon him in battle. Bahamut wouldn’t actually appear as a summon until FF3 when the concept of summoning magic was first introduced to the series. In FF1, Bahamut is an NPC who lives beneath the Cardia Islands. Bahamut is one of the most important characters in the game, as he’s the only one with the power to upgrade the party’s jobs.

The Final Fantasy job system was inspired by D&D. In FF1, the player created four characters by selecting from six possible jobs: Warrior, Monk, Thief, Black Mage, White Mage, and Red Mage. If the player completed the Citadel of Trials and found the Rat Tail item, they could bring it to Bahamut and have their classes upgraded. The Warrior would become the Knight, the Monk would become the Master, the Thief would become the Ninja, the Black Mage would become the Black Wizard, the White Mage would become the White Wizard, and the Red Mage would become the Red Wizard. It bears mentioning that the encounter with Bahamut and his quest to upgrade the jobs is completely optional. It’s entirely possible for the players to defeat Chaos and complete the game using the basic classes.

Why Bahamut Doesn’t Appear In Stranger Of Paradise

Stranger of Paradise features revamped Final Fantasty 1 characters, with the Four Fiends receiving new designs that make them a better fit for an action game. Bahamut and his quest do not appear in Stranger of Paradise, even though many of the NPCs from FF1 do appear. The player unlocks the high-tier jobs by completing skill trees, with the exception of one that is locked behind completing the game. The player is able to unlock powerful jobs like the Sage, Tyrant, and Void Knight by playing the game, so Bahamut was perhaps not necessary for this new story.

It’s likely that Bahamut will appear, but fans will have to pay for the privilege of meeting him. The Stranger of Paradise Season Pass will feature a chapter called “Trials of the Dragon King”. It’s likely that Bahamut will appear during this DLC chapter and players will be able to unlock new jobs by completing his quest. There’s also a good chance that they’ll be able to duke it out with him in this Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin DLC.
