Netflix’s baking show Sugar Rush has a holiday spinoff called Sugar Rush: ChristmasSeason 2 of the show can be seen on Netflix now. The original Sugar Rush is conducted in the same format as the holiday edition. Four teams of professional bakers compete in three timed challenges to win a $10,000 prize. The only difference in the Christmas version is that the challenges are, of course, festively themed.

Host Hunter March and judges Candace Nelson and Adriano Zumbo add some spice to the show. Season 2 of Sugar Rush: Christmas features several fun guest judges, including singer Jordan Sparks, actress Abigail Breslin and basketball player Chris Bosh. It’s unclear whether the Christmas edition of the show will be renewed for a third season. The original Sugar Rush will likely be going into its fourth season later this year.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Sugar Rush: Christmas season 2 was filmed where most television shows are: in Hollywood! The show films at Sunset Bronson Studios in Los Angeles, Calif. The show is produced by Magical Elves, a company that also produces popular food shows like Top Chef and Nailed It! All of these shows are also shot in Los Angeles. The set for Sugar Rush: Christmas is decked out in Christmas themed decorations. It features four large baking stations, one for each baking team, as reported by The Cinemaholic. It’s unclear when the second season of Sugar Rush: Christmas was filmed. Without significant changes to the format, it was most likely shot before the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March. Most holiday-themed baking shows, like Halloween Wars, are filmed well in advance.

However, the pandemic may inhibit these shows from continuing to film. Bustle reports that while most Netflix original baking shows keep their casting websites operational year-round, Sugar Rush’s casting site is not currently available. While this could mean that the show just isn’t casting at the moment, other shows like Nailed It! are currently casting online. The show’s future may be uncertain, but its holiday cheer is certainly fun to watch! The lineup of famous guest judges on this season of Sugar Rush: Christmas seem to indicate that the show is doing pretty well.

The six-episode series is easy to watch and compares to other holiday baking shows like The Great Christmas Bake Off. What will you be watching and baking for the holidays? The confections on Sugar Rush: Christmas may be beyond reach, but it’ll definitely inspire you to eat some sweet treats.
