At a time when tv shows surrounding legal dramas have become increasingly familiar, USA Network’s Suits stood out for all the right reasons throughout its run. Perhaps, what made this show different from similar shows is its premise – a big-time lawyer lets a con-man practice law at his firm. It might sound wrong, but fans embraced the storyline, nonetheless.

Suits concluded following its ninth season. However, that’s not to say the cast hasn’t gone on to do other projects. It’s even possible that fans had seen the cast in other shows or movies before they shot to stardom. Here are just a few of them:

10 Car Dogs

The 2016 movie sees Suits star Patrick J. Adams (Mike) portray Mark Chamberlain, a sales manager determined to get his sales team to sell more cars than ever in just eight hours. The character has some similarities to Adams’ Mike Ross on Suits in that he’s assertive but still one of the most likable ones on the show.

Aside from Adams, the movie also stars Oscar winner Octavia Spencer. And while speaking with Flickreel, the movie’s director, Adam Collis, said that Adams’ climactic scene with Spencer is “the one that everybody keeps talking about.”

9 Anti-Social

Of all the tv shows and movies that Meghan Markle (Rachel) has ever starred in, this 2015 crime movie may be the most unfamiliar. Anti-Social centers around two brothers, a street artist named Dee and an armed robber named Marcus. Markle is introduced in the story as Dee’s girlfriend, Kirsten.

According to the film’s director, Reg Traviss, the Suits alum may have had to show more skin in the movie had he not stopped things behind the scenes. “Other people definitely would have taken advantage,” Traviss told The Sun. “I think the reason I didn’t do anything like that is because other people would have. It wasn’t needed for the story.”

8 All Things Valentine

Recognized as one of the best Valentine’s movies from the Hallmark channel, the movie starred Suits alum Sarah Rafferty (Donna) as a blogger who meets a veterinarian after experiencing disappointment several times on Valentine’s Day. The situation gets rather complicated though, after Rafferty’s character learns that this is the very same man who had been leaving some rude comments on her blog.

In the movie, Sam Page stars as Rafferty’s love interest. So far, this is the only rom-com that Rafferty has starred in, but we hope that would change in the future.

7 Because I Said So

The 2007 movie stars Diane Keaton as a mother to three women, played by Piper Perabo, Lauren Graham, and Mandy Moore. They are joined by Suits star Gabriel Macht (Harvey), who plays one of Moore’s love interests.

The actor happens to regard Keaton as his “hero” and while speaking with ComingSoon.net, Macht raved about working with the Oscar-winning actress. “What you see on that film, how’s she wry and clever and sort of rambunctious, she’s that,” the actor explained. “She was very straight and very present with me…”

6 The Spirit

In this 2008 fantasy movie, Macht stars as a rookie cop who gets murdered and reborn as the titular character. The Spirit is directed by Frank Miller of Sin City fame. Of his decision to cast Macht in the lead role, Miller told The Spokesman-Review the Suits alum had “the looks and the talent.”

He also further explained, “There’s a realness to him and his performance. I knew right away that I had found my Spirit.” Aside from Macht, the movie’s cast also includes Scarlett Johansson, Sarah Paulson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jaime King, and Eva Mendes.

5 Natural Selection

In this 2011 critically acclaimed movie, Suits’ Rachael Harris (Sheila) stars as a Christian housewife, who comes to learn that her dying husband has an illegitimate son. Admittedly, the role is very different from anything that Harris had done in the past (she’s mostly known as Ed Helms’ fiancé in The Hangover). And so, the film’s director and writer, Robbie Pickering, was convinced that he wasn’t right for the part.

But while speaking Hollywood.com, Harris revealed she managed to convince Pickering to give her a chance after explaining that she could relate to the character due to her divorce experience.

4 Life As We Know It

Life as We Know It is a rom-com that comes with an unexpected plot twist. In the movie, Suits’ Katherine Heigl (Samantha) and Josh Duhamel star as two people who end up raising a baby together after their mutual friends die unexpectedly in an accident.

For Heigl, the timing of her work on the movie couldn’t have been better as she had just become a new mother herself around that time. “It was all parallels,” the actress told Digital Journal. “I was living on camera what I was living in my life.”

3 J. Edgar

The 2011 biopic stars Leonardo Di Caprio as FBI’s first director, J. Edgar Hoover. The cast also includes Suits actress Amanda Schull (Katrina) who portrayed Anita Colby, a model and actress, who attempts to proposition Hoover in the movie.

According to a report from Inquirer Magazine in 1971, Hoover and Colby were friends for more than 30 years. He had even taken Colby on “several wild gangster-chasing rides.” Following the release of the movie, there was some expectation that J. Edgar would score some Oscar nominations. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen.

2 New Year’s Eve

This 2011 holiday movie features several intertwined stories culminating on New Year’s Eve. The cast includes Oscar winners such as Hilary Swank, Halle Berry, and Robert De Niro. At the same time, it also stars Heigl who plays the love interest of Jon Bon Jovi’s Jensen.

Interestingly, the storyline involving the singer was supposed to star Berry instead of Heigl. According to Deadline, the decision was made to switch from Heigl to Berry when the Oscar winner was allegedly leaving the movie. These rumors were proven to be false as Berry did feature in a storyline with De Niro.

1 Sonic The Hedgehog

Among recent movie releases, no one expected to be good was Sonic the Hedgehog, which starred Neal McDonough (Sean). McDonough plays Major Bennington, who works with Dr. Robotnik to try to capture Sonic.

Following the success of the movie, there’s been talk of a sequel and while discussing this, McDonough jokingly told Digital Spy, “I’ve already heard rumblings that The Rock is going to be [in it].”
