Craig Conover of Southern Charm and Summer House opens up about what caused the rift with his longtime friend and castmate, Austen Kroll. The two best friends have appeared together on multiple reality shows and are known for one of the strongest bromances on television. Recently, however, Austen’s behavior while visiting the Summer House crew in the Hamptons is causing friction between the two.

Austen ignited a messy love triangle from the moment he entered Winter House by toying with the emotions of both Ciara Miller and Lindsay Hubbard. While he showed interest in pursuing Ciara, which included making out with her on multiple occasions, he also enjoyed a flirtation with Lindsay and convinced both women he only had eyes for them. Once he arrived in the Hamptons, his playboy behavior only increased further, as he continued to show interest in both women, and refused to commit to either. While Ciara seemed to genuinely care about Austen, fans became suspicious that Lindsay was using Austen to make Ciara jealous.

Meanwhile, Austen’s best friend Craig was focusing on his budding relationship with Paige DeSorbo and growing increasingly frustrated at his friend’s womanizing behavior. In an interview with Us Weekly, Craig opened up about the toll Austen’s antics took on their friendship. “I was just really disappointed,” he explained, “When I found out that he was kissing Lindsay after kissing Ciara, I was just like, ‘Dude, that’s literally everything that Lindsay wanted to happen.’ He just crushed Ciara. … I was just really disappointed in him.” Although the two men are great friends, Craig’s disappointment was so strong, he even distanced himself from Austen, and didn’t speak to his castmate for two months.

Austen isn’t the only one Craig is upset with, however. The reality star explained that he believes Lindsay is equally at fault, and that she manipulated the situation to mislead Austen and hurt Ciara. “What you didn’t see on Winter House was Lindsay was way worse,” he alleged, “I mean, she lied about saying she was in love with Austen and she just went after Ciara and him every second she got.” He went on to say that he was additionally annoyed by how Austen treated his now girlfriend, Paige, and that he didn’t like the way the two fought when Paige called him out for playing with Ciara’s heart.

Summer House season 6 has been full of drama, especially given that the cast blended with other Bravo-lebs while filming Winter House, but Austen certainly took it to another level. Given his behavior, many fans are totally over Austen and his playboy antics. Still, the season is still airing, so there’s more than enough time for someone to behave even worse than he has. Though that’s definitely a tall order.
