Luke Gulbranson has been noticeably absent in Summer House season 6 and recently opened up about what caused his late arrival. Luke was a key component to the season 5 drama, and fans were looking forward to seeing his return. But a few episodes in, Luke is nowhere to be found. With Andrea Denver and Craig Conover joining the Hamptons housemates, Luke’s void was seemingly filled. But Luke fans can be rest assured that the Minnesota outdoorsman will be returning to the show very soon.

Summer House saw Luke in a somewhat love triangle with Ciara Miller and Hannah Berner. Luke and Hannah’s summer fling carried over into season 5, with Hannah under the impression that things were getting serious between them. But Luke had his sights on Ciara and brought her to the house hoping to spark a flame. In the end, Ciara sided with Hannah and decided Luke wasn’t someone she wanted to date. During the reunion, Hannah stormed off the stage in tears after Luke admitted to only flirting with Hannah at the request of producers.

With Hannah exiting Summer House, fans expected to see Luke make a return and attempt to find love. But Luke hasn’t been seen in the first couple of episodes. He recently explained why. “I’m late coming in because I have some things happening back in Minnesota that I needed to be home for,” Luke told Page Six. “You will find out about that as the season goes on.” This time around, Luke isn’t focused on trying to hook up with anyone or find love. The R_Co jewelry creator says he enjoyed spending the summer single, but it was still a bumpy ride with his housemates. “There are ups and downs. I’m being pulled in a lot of different directions,” Luke said. “So for me, it was a fun, fun summer, but also an emotional roller coaster for me.”

Considering Luke’s interest in Ciara last summer, seeing her hookup with Austen Kroll on Winter House wasn’t easy. In Summer House season 6, Ciara is still visibly into Austen despite him telling her he wasn’t interested in getting serious with anyone. Craig and Paige DeSorbo made an instant connection after years of being flirty with each other. The couple went on to make things official after filming. Luke also has more competition with Andrea and Craig’s addition to the house. As a result of the lack of love interests in season 6, Luke says he was more focused on his family and jewelry business. “I’m here to have fun, and then I’m juggling business stuff with my jewelry and trying to expand and grow my business and take advantage of opportunities that come our way,” Luke shared.

It might be a wind-down for Luke after getting into physical showdowns and breaking hearts in Summer House season 5. Luke might be trying to redeem himself after coming off as a womanizer last season. With Hannah gone, Luke doesn’t have to worry about being bad-mouthed on Summer House. All of the ladies are his friends and filmed the winter spin-off with him. Luke is gearing up to introduce a more mature side to himself in season 6.
