Supergirl is making the big move from CBS to The CW network this fall, joining her DC Comics cohorts Arrow, The Flash and the cast of Legends of Tomorrow. The second tier DC Universe has been slowly dominating television with a shared universe that joins all of the series characters together.

The second season of the daughter of Krypton is already set to feature some fantastic new additions from the DC Universe, like Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath), Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) and The Man of Steel himself, Superman (Tyler Hoechlin). A new report released today is confirming the addition of one of the more recognizable ladies of the DC Universe, Miss Martian.

The Wrap is confirming that Sharon Leal (Grimm, Hellcats) has been cast as Miss Martian in the upcoming second season of CW’s Supergirl television series. This marks the very first ever live-action appearance of the character. The CW hasn’t released any details about how the character will be portrayed or her origins, but no doubt Supergirl will take a few liberties and put their own unique spin on Miss Martian. The martian telepath is famous for having super strength and various other abilities, such as the power of flight, shapeshifting and regenerative powers. Miss Martian is a great addition to a series like Supergirl, since she is often shapeshifted into her human form to fit in with the general public.

Although a relatively new character in the world of comic books, Miss Martian (aka M’gann M’orzz / Megan Morse), has made quite the impact in a short amount of time. She debuted only a decade ago in the pages of Teen Titans #37, a creation of DC Comics creative favorites Geoff Johns and Tony Daniel. Fans will recognize Johns as the newly crowned president of DC Entertainment. Miss Martian is a White Martian that bears a striking resemblance to the legendary Justice League member, Martian Manhunter. Her true White Martian appearance is often more intimidating and disruptive, so she masks herself as a Green Martian and tries to resemble the Martian Manhunter whenever possible.

Miss Martian has had a fast track to the hearts of the fans primarily due to her highly visible role as one of the lead team members in both seasons of the Young Justice cartoon, where she was voiced by Danica McKellar (The Wonder Years). In the series the often lovable martian, who goes by Megan, changes her appearance to look like the star of a television series that matches her own personal catchphrase, Hello Megan! She has also made notable appearances in the newer DC Super Hero Girls cartoon and in crossovers with Teen Titans Go!, Scooby-Doo! Wrestlemania Mystery and the LEGO Batman 3 video game. Megan is joined by many of her strong female DC Comics heroes in the series, like Artemis, Wonder Girl and Zatanna.

Supergirl season 2 on Monday October 10th, The Flash season 3 will premiere Tuesday, October 4th at 8pm on The CW, Arrow season 5 will premiere in the same time slot on Wednesday, October 5th and DC Legends of Tomorrow season 2 on Thursday, October 13th.
