Supergirl season 6 is on the way, and a new poster shows the cast united around Melissa Benoist’s Kara Danvers. The CW series has been a staple of the Arrowverse since its premiere in 2015. Supergirl, along with Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash, has provided a lighter take on DC heroes than what’s seen in Batwoman and the now-concluded flagship series Arrow. It’s also spawned a spinoff, Superman & Lois, which premiered in early 2021. However, this will be the only season they both air, as Supergirl is set to end with season 6.

Viewers have been waiting awhile for the show’s final run. Season 5 ended in May 2020, and The CW decided to hold its Arrowverse series until 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19 also cost Supergirl one episode, with season 5 ending at 19 rather than 20. As a result, the first new episode will have to tie up some lose ends. Supergirl‘s season 6 premiere synopsis teases a battle with Gamenmae as well as Lena enlisting the team’s help to take down her brother, Lex. Audiences don’t have too long before they’ll find out what happens, as Supergirl season 6 premieres March 30.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Ahead of the first episode back, The CW shared a season 6 poster on Supergirl‘s Twitter. It features the tagline “Better. Stronger. Together.” and the show’s main characters. Check it out below:

Though the poster doesn’t reveal anything major about Supergirl‘s final season, it’s exciting to see the characters together again. By the time season 6 premieres, it will have been over ten months since the last episode. That’s a long time to wait, especially since the season 5 finale left fan favorite character Brainy near death. Luckily, the premiere synopsis also reveals Supergirl swoops in to save him.

The season 6 poster highlights the importance of unity, especially with its tagline. This is significant, particularly for Kara and Lena, who spent the majority of season 5 on the outs. The finale saw the two begin their reconciliation after Lena discovered Kara’s secret, and the poster suggests they’ll continue on that path this season. Supergirl season 6 is expected to be 20 episodes, so the two will have quite some time to work things out. Hopefully, the final season is a satisfying goodbye for both the characters and longtime viewers. With several other Arrowverse shows still around, especially Superman & Lois, it’s always possible some of Supergirl‘s heroes could show up elsewhere in the future. That should lessen the sting of the show’s final episodes.
