Superman & Lois episode 14 has been delayed; here’s the release date and the reason for the hiatus explained. The newest addition to the Arrowverse lineup this season follows Lois Lane’s and Clark Kent’s challenges as parents while juggling their regular responsibilities. Throughout Superman & Lois season 1, the show has focused on the family’s new chapter after they moved to Smallville. However, it hasn’t been entirely peaceful as Superman has been dealing with Morgan Edge, who turned out to be Clark’s biological half-brother.

Like the other Arrowverse shows, Superman & Lois also suffered from having a rocky schedule, partially related to the global pandemic. Since each Arrowverse series started at various points in 2021, The CW’s normal season scheduling with midseason breaks has been different from previous seasons. In the case of Superman & Lois, only five episodes got to air before the series had to suspend production until it was safe to film again. Now, despite being close to finishing the first season, Superman & Lois episode 14, which will focus on the Eradicator, will not be released until Tuesday, August 10.

This time it wasn’t a delay related to the pandemic, but to another global event. Superman & Lois episode 14 will be delayed because of the Summer Olympics, which are being held in Tokyo and will run through August 8. Had the CW not delayed its show, the Olympics would have aired during Superman & Lois’s final two episodes for the next two weeks. Since the Olympics are such a huge televised event, it makes sense that The CW would want to avoid pitting Superman & Lois’ final episodes of season 1 against them. Superman & Lois is not only the Arrowverse series to be affected by the Olympics, as Legends of Tomorrow‘s five remaining episodes also got pushed back to August. Luckily, this will be the final hiatus for Superman & Lois season 1 and Legends of Tomorrow season 6.

It’s worth noting that Superman & Lois season 1 was only going to have 13 episodes before The CW extended the order to 15. Since production had to stop earlier this year, it delayed their whole shooting schedule for the rest of the season. That’s why the Superman & Lois season 1 finale, which The Flash’s Tom Cavanagh directed, only just finished filming on July 2. Even if the Olympics hadn’t happened, it was almost inevitable that The CW would have had to delay the remaining episodes in order to finish. Given Superman & Lois’ high production value, the delay allows the post-production team to properly finish the remaining work on the finale rather than rush and air a half-decent product.

Luckily, it looks like the wait for Superman & Lois episode 14 will be more than worth it. Now that Morgan Edge has become the Eradicator, it will be fascinating to see the latter as an actual character. Superman & Lois season 1 also has to tackle John Henry Irons’ Earth with the evil Superman, unless that carries over into the next season. Despite its weird airing schedule, Superman & Lois has had a powerful first season, and it will be exciting to see how the final two episodes tie up the ongoing storylines.
