As viewers have been wondering why Superman & Lois season 2 has had so many hiatuses, star Elizabeth Tulloch explains the cause of it. One of the Arrowverse’s biggest shows that kicked off 2022, Superman & Lois season 2 continues the Kent-Lane family’s story. The series introduced its take on what appears to be DC’s Bizarro World, potentially re-introducing the idea of the Multiverse. All of the Arrowverse shows earned various orders, with Superman & Lois having 15 episodes.

Despite having a lesser amount of episodes than a standard broadcast season, Superman & Lois season 2 has had more breaks than usual. While hiatuses are common for any TV show, it has been an unusual amount of interruptions, even by The CW’s standards. The show took its first break after season 2, episode 4 that aired on February 1 before resuming on February 22. After running three episodes back-to-back until March 8, The CW pulled Superman & Lois season 2 again until its return on March 22. Despite having only been back for one week, episode 9, which is set to air on March 29, will be the last one for a while as the Arrowverse show is heading into another three-week break.

With Superman & Lois season 2, episode 10 set to air on Tuesday, April 26, it has caused some viewers to get more curious about what is causing the show to have so many hiatuses. Thankfully, Tulloch, who portrays Lois Lane, was able to provide some very helpful answers. After a fan tagged her to ask what’s going on behind the scenes, Tulloch explained that production had been heavily affected by COVID-19, as it has had to shut down what appears to be more than once this season. Even though it’s not shocking, this is the first time COVID-19 issues have been brought up as it pertains to Superman & Lois season 2. While many TV shows have had a somewhat “easier” time to shoot in 2021 compared to 2020 when the global pandemic first broke out, it doesn’t mean it’s without challenges. For Superman & Lois, this isn’t the first season that had its production affected by COVID-19. Back in Superman & Lois season 1, the show went on a two-month hiatus after airing its first five episodes, which is why Supergirl season 6 premiered earlier than planned.

It’s perfectly understandable though that viewers are frustrated over an inconsistent and choppy airing schedule. Whether or not this upcoming hiatus will be the last one for Superman & Lois season 2 remains to be seen. After this week, there are only six episodes remaining, which will all hopefully be able to air consequently, meaning the ongoing season would finish sometime in late May/early June. Another upside is that The CW has already gone ahead and renewed Superman & Lois for season 3, which will air either this fall or in 2023.
