Tyler Hoechlin hopes his friends from the Supergirl cast appear on Superman & Lois soon. Supergirl and Superman & Lois are both drama series in the CW’s Arrowverse, a universe shared by several series based on DC’s Justice League characters. Melissa Benoist starred in Supergirl as Kara Danvers, and Hoechlin appeared as her cousin Clark Kent. While Supergirl‘s finale episode aired in November 2021 after a total of six seasons, Superman & Lois season 2 premiered at the beginning of January 2022 and is still airing.

Hoechlin first appeared as the Man of Steel in Supergirl season 2, episode 1, and he returned as the character in multiple Arrowverse crossovers. After “The Crisis On Infinite Earths” crossover event, Superman & Lois premiered with the couple moving themselves and their twin sons back to Smallville. Elizabeth Tulloch stars alongside Hoechlin as Superman’s wife, Lois Lane, and Jordan Elsass and Alex Garfin as their sons, Jonathan and Jordan. While Superman & Lois shares a timeline and continuity with Supergirl and the rest of the Arrowverse, the only character to crossover into the show so far is John Diggle, played by David Ramsey.

This week in an interview with Comicbook.com, Hoechlin shares that he would like that to change. The actor says that he hopes they will be lucky enough to have the Supergirl cast appear on Superman & Lois in a crossover, since he is “great friends” with all of them. The Superman actor goes on to share how hard it has been to meet up with the cast since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, and how he would love to see his friends “in any capacity.” Read Hoechlin’s full quote below:

“I’m such great friends with all those people. We obviously, especially with COVID these last two years, have not been able to see each other as much as we would like to, but they’re just such great people. Having them around in any capacity is always great. So if we can find a way to make that work, that’d be awesome. It’s just a treat to be able to share the stage with them, or share a coffee with them. It’s all the same to me. We have a really great time together. So hopefully, we’ll be that lucky.”

The Arrowverse has become known for its crossover events that carry storylines and characters from show to show. In addition to “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” there have been eight official Arrowverse crossover events, but none of them took place on Superman & Lois. The main reason for this was the pandemic’s restrictions. Because Covid-19 limited how many people could gather on the set, the Arrowverse crossover event planned for 2021 had to be limited to only one show, and the five-part “Armageddon” crossover took place as The Flash season 8 instead. Unfortunately, timing prevented Superman & Lois from featuring a crossover at all.

All of this does not mean a crossover won’t ever happen on Superman & Lois. In the next episode, Jenna Dewan is expected to return as Lucy Lane, Lois’s sister who first appeared in Supergirl season 1. As production restrictions relax, perhaps another full Arrowverse crossover will be possible, and both fans and Hoechlin can get what they want and see Benoist’s Supergirl or her fellow cast mates make an appearance on screens once again.
