If you can believe it, Supernatural is currently airing its fifteenth and final season on The CW. After 300 episodes and countless fights with monsters, the long-running horror series is finally coming to an end. That means we’ll be forced to say goodbye to the beloved Winchester brothers, Sam and Dean.

Dean has had his fair share of awesome, heartbreaking, and hilarious moments over the years. He often gets to utter the best pop culture references and quippy one-liners. We’re looking back fondly at some of his best quotes of all time.

10 Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole.

The above quote is a classic from the Dean Winchester repertoire. When seeking out Supernatural merchandise, there is a good chance you’ll find many t-shirts, mugs, and other miscellaneous items with this quote engraved. Dean says it while allowing Sam in his beloved Impala, also known as Baby.

He holds his car near and to his heart and has stringent rules about what he will allow and won’t allow in the vehicle. Not only is Dean picky about who puts hands on Baby, but he is selective about his music selection too.

9 I think I’m adorable.

It’s impossible to decide who is the cuter of the two Winchester brothers, but Dean would certainly have you believe it’s him. Dean fans and Sam fans have their own ideas about that argument, but in the series, Dean always remarks on his appearance and ability to pick up women.

During one moment, when Dean is arrested (as he is so often), he quips, “I think I’m adorable,” mainly to irritate his interrogator. Who could look at a face like his and deny that very statement?

8 Saving people, hunting things, the family business.

Dean Winchester gets some of the most iconic lines in the entire series. He utters this one at the beginning of the show. It’s the perfect tagline for the plot. What do the Winchesters do? They save people. They hunt things. It’s the family business.

Their hunting adventures and desire to save as many people as they can from the things that go bump in the night is what motivates them, and it’s what motivated both of their parents. Although we don’t learn about Mary’s hunter background until later, “hunting” has always been a Winchester trade.

7 Why is it my job to save these people?

This heart-breaking quote comes from the first Djinn-centric episode in the second season of the series. In “What Is and What Should Never Be,” a Djinn transports the elder Winchester brother to a world where their family isn’t hunters. In the end, when back in reality, Dean approaches his father’s grave.

“Why is it my job to save these people? Why do I have to be some kind of hero? Why do we have to sacrifice everything, Dad?” Dean tearfully questions the spirit of his father. It’s a reminder that all the sadness in Dean’s life does take a toll, even if he doesn’t often show it.

6 We’re stronger together than apart.

“The universe is trying to tell us something we both should already know. We’re stronger together than apart.” In the Season 10 episode, “The Werther Project,” Dean gets to say this to his brother, Sam. After spending some time apart while Sam searches for something that could cure his brother and save from the Men of Letters, the duo reunite.

Dean’s words are a throughline for the brothers and the series at large. They have always been better together than apart. At any point when Sam and Dean split up, they’ve realized how much they needed the other.

5 Don’t objectify me.

Fans have dissenting opinions on Bela Talbot. The character has grown in popularity since actress Lauren Cohan began starring on The Walking Dead. People have also started to appreciate how interesting of a character she was. She brought a lot of tension to her cat-and-mouse games with the Winchesters.

There is also a reasonably passionate fanbase who still likes the idea of Bela and Dean together. In one of their scenes, we get this great quote from Dean. Bela propositions him to have angry sex one day, and Dean’s response is priceless, especially since you can tell he’s trying to decide if she’s being serious or not.

4 That’s crap. You always have a choice.

The entirety of this quote is, “That’s crap. You always have a choice. You can either roll over and die, or you can keep fighting, no matter what.” Dean says it in the Season 2 premiere while talking to Tessa, the Reaper. While in a purgatorial state, Dean says this to Tessa before knowing she’s a Reaper.

He doesn’t yet know Tessa is a reaper. It establishes that Dean doesn’t believe in fate at all. It makes sense given how he’s been raised, but he is forced to put his philosophy in practice when he sells his soul to save John.

3 It rips you to shreds.

In the Season 2 episode, “Houses of the Holy,” Dean says, “There’s no higher power, there’s no God. There’s just chaos and violence and random, unpredictable evil that comes out of nowhere. It rips you to shreds.” In this episode, Sam and Dean are trying to figure out if the apparition making people do terrible things is actually an angel.

At this point in the series, angels have not been introduced, so the idea of their existence is hotly contested between the brothers. That’s why Dean is so passionate when he tells Sam that he doesn’t believe in a higher power.

2 I think the world’s gonna end bloody.

“Jus in Bello” is one of the strongest episodes from Season 3. In this installment, Sam and Dean are arrested and have to help the sheriffs and other people in prison from an impending demonic attack. Dean gives a brief pep talk at one point, stating, “I think the world’s gonna end bloody.

But it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t fight. We do have choices. I choose to go down swingin’.” It’s another one of those moments in the series that shows how strong and determined a man Dean truly is. He refuses to cave to his circumstances and tries to be brave until the very end.

1 Demons, I get. But people are crazy.

Dean gets to utter this quote in an early episode from the series. He says it while being tortured in “The Benders.” This quote is also notable because “The Benders” is the first episode from Supernatural that focuses on the evil nature of humans instead of monsters.

Sam and Dean don’t work with terrible people often. Their focus typically remains on ridding the world of supernatural creatures, not the human ones.
