You would think that Supernatural, a show that is on its 15th and final season, would have a wide array of protagonists and antagonists that span across the race, gender and sexuality spectrum. But, up until Rowena Macleod, who is the neglectful, self-centered mother of the King of Hell, Crowley, who burst onto the scene in season 10, female characters did not have that many recurring roles on the show, especially not as main characters.

Over the past 5 seasons, Rowena has given us many heartbreaking and memorable moments, leaving a lasting impression, which is saying something since Supernatural is such a character-driven show. So, let us count down the top 10 Rowena Macleod episodes.

10 Supernatural: Girls, Girls, Girls (Season 10, Episode 7)

At first, we only get Crowley’s point-of-view about Rowena and he was the sole source of any background, whether true or not. This episode changes that, as Rowena, who is looking to create a coven, recruits two girls, who she believes have potential magical powers.

She tells the prospective witches about how the Grand Coven of witches forbids her from using magic after casting her out. After Rowena kills a waiter, she encounters the Winchesters, attempting to escape, she places a deadly spell on one of the girls as a distraction but is captured by one of Crowley’s men.

9 Supernatural: Paint It Black (Season 10, Episode 16)

Rowena wants the powers she once had back, powers the coven stole from her. So, she captures and tortures Olivette, a former high priestess of the coven. Olivette tells Rowena the coven no longer has the power to help her, as their numbers and power were diminished by the Men of Letters.

Olivette tells her that only two Men of Letters remain and that they might be able to undo the spell. Rowena wanted to kill Olivette but in the end, decides to let her live out the rest of her days as a hamster.
