WARNING: Spoilers for Supernatural season 15

Supernatural shares previously unseen bloopers featuring Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, and Alexander Calvert filming the series’ final episodes. While Sam (Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Ackles) have always been Supernatural’s core focus, the series has accumulated a handful of beloved characters over its 15-year run. Of these characters, none were welcomed into the brothers’ inner circle quite like Castiel (Collins) and Jack (Calvert).

Supernatural season 15 saw “Team Free Will” save the world one last time. Castiel ended up sacrificing himself for Dean (after that admission of love) and Jack became God. The series aired its final episode last month, bringing a controversial end to the story of its two monster-hunting brothers. Tuesday, series creator Eric Kripke reunited with members of the Supernatural cast and crew in a virtual event alongside political activist and fan, Stacey Abrams, helping to raise awareness of Abrams’ voting rights organization.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Supernatural’s fundraiser (posted by Collins on YouTube) concluded with a bonus gag reel from season 15. The bloopers (beginning at 1:08:57) start with Collins pretending to get his “on-camera finger” stuck in a clapperboard before Ackles blunders to pick a crucial lock, Padalecki calls himself out for bad acting, and Calvert just tries to keep it together. It’s a lighthearted look behind the scenes of what has been a tough year for the characters and the actors. Check it out below.

Long-term fans of the Supernatural have become accustomed to production antics/pranks courtesy of blooper reels and stories told by the cast at conventions. Padalecki and Ackles have often talked about how Collins (wittingly) became the brunt of many jokes after becoming a cast member in season 4. When Calvert signed on as Jack in season 12, he endured his own form of good-humored hazing, fitting considering Sam, Dean, and Castiel are Jack’s surrogate family.

Supernatural’s depiction of family, both in front of and behind the camera, has undoubtedly played a role in it becoming one of the most beloved and celebrated fantasy shows in recent memory. Many were disappointed with the finale for not including characters like Castiel and Jack. While Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver) did make an appearance, the episode, “Carry On,” focused entirely on Sam and Dean. The writers had intended to bring back more beloved characters such as Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s John Winchester. However, travel and safety concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic kept this from happening. That said, seeing new footage of Padalecki, Ackles, Collins, and Calvert fooling around on the Supernatural season 15 set makes saying goodbye a little easier.
