Cloud 9 doesn’t seem like the most romantic place in the world, but Superstore proves that love can be found anywhere. While Jonah and Amy are the show’s main couple, they aren’t the only two employees who fell in love on the job. Dina and Garrett’s romance is unexpected, but it quickly becomes an ongoing plotline.

The two don’t have a typical relationship and there are an endless amount of reasons why they shouldn’t work. However, Dina and Garrett can’t stay away from each other, and it’s clear that they’ll never be happy with anyone else. Superstore dedicates a decent amount of episodes to fleshing out their romance, and some showcase the development between them particularly well.

10 “Black Friday” (Season 2 Episode 10)

Dina and Garrett’s first kiss is one of the best kisses in Superstore, partially due to its shock factor. Garrett does admit to being attracted to Dina in her Halloween costume, but neither displays a real romantic interest in the other prior to this episode.

“Black Friday” is the first time Dina and Garrett work together to achieve a common goal, causing them to experience a sense of comradery. Although it comes out of nowhere, the moment can easily be justified due to the events of the day, and it officially kick-starts their romance.

9 “Lost And Found” (Season 2 Episode 11)

The morning after hooking up with a co-worker is bound to be awkward, but Dina and Garrett take things to another level. Being honest and open about their feelings isn’t in either character’s nature, so a mature conversation is off the table.

To make matters worse, Dina and Garrett both have far too much pride to admit that their time together meant something. Regardless of how they handle the situation, Garrett’s angry outburst proves that he has some kind of emotional investment in what’s going on between them.

8 “Mateo’s Last Day” (Season 2 Episode 18)

At the end of the day, Superstore is a sitcom, and “Mateo’s Last Day” is one of Garrett and Dina’s funniest episodes. A large part of the humor comes from their refusal to label their relationship and the lengths they go to when disclosing it to corporate.

If neither of them cares about the other as much as they claim, it’s unlikely that checking a box would elicit such a rise out of them. Yet, Dina and Garrett spend the entire episode on the phone with HR and don’t give up until their relationship status is “other.”

7 “Tornado” (Season 2 Episode 22)

It comes as no surprise that “Tornado” is one of the highest-rated episodes of Superstore on IMDb. There isn’t too much of a focus on Dina and Garrett’s relationship, as the natural disaster takes priority, but the life-or-death situation does bring some things into perspective.

Garrett is visibly hurt when Dina doesn’t put much thought into his well-being, and it causes him to admit that there’s an emotional component to sex. It’s the closest they’ve come to discussing their feelings, and Dina takes what he says to heart.

6 “Part-Time Hires” (Season 3 Episode 3)

It isn’t the most joyful episode in terms of their romance, but Dina and Garrett’s break-up is necessary for them to eventually have something more. The two still struggle to acknowledge what’s between them and neither will be happy if they continue down the same path.

Their way of calling it quits is comedic, as Garrett and Dina both want to be known as the “dumper” rather than the “dumpee.” By letting go of his pride and allowing Dina to have the last word, Garrett shows how much he cares about her. Dina does make him immediately regret it, but it’s still a nice gesture.

5 “Lovebirds” (Season 4 Episode 13)

The Valentine’s Day installment is a crucial episode for both Dina and Garrett’s and Amy and Jonah’s relationships in Superstore. Unfortunately, only one of them is painted in a positive light. Dina and Garrett’s long-awaited reunion isn’t under the best circumstances, and by the time the episode ends, Garrett has a lot to atone for.

Not only does he let Dina’s birds escape, but he lies about it and proceeds to sleep with her. However, their relationship fizzles out during the third season, and this episode brings it back into play.

4 “Quinceañera” (Season 4 Episode 17)

“Quinceañera” shows that Garrett and Dina can be entertaining whether they’re in a relationship or not. In fact, the majority of their best scenes happen when the two aren’t sleeping together, as there’s an added layer of complexity.

Dina is convinced that Garrett is hung up on her, and part of it is due to her own arrogance. However, Dina actively goes out of her way to make him jealous by dancing with a teenage boy. Their methods to spite each other are ridiculous, but it’s all rooted in their inability to let one another go.

3 “The Trough” (Season 6 Episode 7)

During the early seasons the opposite could be said, but by the time Superstore Season 6 rolls around, Dina and Garrett genuinely enjoy each other’s company. They become close friends who connect on a meaningful level and find themselves participating in all kinds of work-related shenanigans.

Subtle hints of Garrett’s lingering feelings for Dina are dropped, despite her being in a serious relationship. However, their almost-kiss proves that they aren’t one-sided.

2 “Ground Rules” (Season 6 Episode 8)

Dina and her boyfriend are thrilled when Garrett agrees to enter into a polyamorous relationship, but he doesn’t do it for the right reasons. Garrett initially rejects their offer, and only changes his mind because of a conversation he has with Jonah.

He tries to prove he doesn’t have romantic feelings for Dina by engaging in a purely sexual relationship with her. The three agree that the romance is left to Dina and Brian, but Garrett clearly wants more. His desire to finally share that emotional connection implies that Garrett has fallen in love with Dina.

1 “All Sales Final” (Season 6 Episode 15)

After years of juggling their on-and-off relationship, Dina and Garrett finally get the ending they deserve in the Superstore series finale. The sitcom focuses its last episode on wrapping up several loose ends, and Dina and Garrett’s future has been a question mark for seasons.

For the first time ever, the two decide to enter a relationship and don’t bother to hide their feelings with hostility. Garrett and Dina’s official status is unknown, but they’re clearly still together when featured in the time jump.
