Although Superstore had a relatively short run, ending after 6 seasons, it gathered a number of fans over the years. Those fans found things to love and hate about the show and characters and shared those things on social media and other platforms.

10 Simmosa Shouldn’t Have Been Endgame

Amy and Jonah’s love story was the heart of Superstore. For a few episodes of the final season, the two separated because of differences in where they were in the relationship. While some “Simmosa” shippers, hoped they’d get back together again by the finale and got what they wished for, others felt like they should have stayed separated.

A Reddit user stated that they weren’t an interesting couple anymore and Amy had outgrown Jonah. These comments were made just before the episode when Amy moved to California, leaving Jonah behind.

9 Kelly Deserved Better

Kelly was one of the women Jonah dated before he eventually got together with Amy. Unlike his former girlfriends, she worked at Cloud 9 too, leading to some serious tension between her and Amy, who finally realized that she loved Jonah.

Most fans rooting for Amy and Jonah to be together didn’t like Kelly, but some Reddit users loved her and felt it was unfair that she was simply added as a plot device to delay the inevitable romance between the couple. She was a fun person who could have been a great girlfriend if only Jonah hadn’t been so terrible to her and had given her half a chance.

8 Mateo Is The Best

Due to the snarky comments, he was well-known for, the audience felt like Mateo wasn’t a great person. A Reddit user described him as selfish and petty, but also said they liked him because of his one-liners.

His snarky one-liners had some level of humor to them, although the character usually delivered them with the intention of being mean. The character’s likability, despite this mean streak, was attributed to the light comedy theme of the show by some.

7 Amy Is The Worst

There are a lot of opinions about Amy out there, especially because she’s one of the main characters. While some applauded Superstore for having a female lead character that wasn’t the typical stereotype of other sitcoms and TV shows, some felt like in trying to subvert expectations, the show created a bad character.

One Reddit user posted that Amy had a bad attitude and a lot of other negative traits. They went on to explain that it was probably because of her frustrations with her life; from marrying at a young age to being stuck at Cloud 9 for years. However, the post and comments state that throughout the show, she didn’t change much and maintained some of those negative tendencies such as rudeness, and selfishness.

6 Superstore Is Super Terrible

As a sitcom, Superstore was designed to be a light comedy show and for some, it achieved its goal as they found the characters to be quite funny. However, a Reddit user pointed out that the humor was forced and none of the characters sounded natural to them.

Apart from that, they also felt that the characters were basically one-dimensional with one personality trait and that the show itself was predictable. To some extent, this was a justified, albeit unpopular, opinion as some of the characters hardly changed from the first season to the last.

5 The Supporting Cast Makes The Show

Although Superstore had plenty of characters, a number of which made up the main cast, there were also some regular supporting characters who chimed in or made an appearance from time to time. Some of them were truly memorable while others didn’t make much of a lasting impression with any of their appearances.

For other fans, like one Reddit user, the supporting cast was the best part of the show. The post mentioned Mateo, Sandra, Cheyenne, Glenn, and Marcus in particular, lamenting that they didn’t have more screen time like the main characters.

4 Jonah The Mannequin

During the second episode of season 1, Jonah was still fairly new to the store and became the subject of many jokes after Amy pointed out that he looked like one of the mannequins in the store. The other employees agreed with her and Amy went on a rampage, dressing the mannequin up like Jonah and leaving it in very odd places to taunt him.

The other characters initially found it funny, but eventually got bored with it when Amy kept dragging it on. And then Jonah tried to get back at her by doing the same but it ended in disaster and embarrassment. One Reddit user stated that they didn’t think the mannequin looked anything like Jonah so all those jokes were unfounded.

3 Carol & Kelly Are The Worst Characters

Kelly’s popularity with the audience was often split, with some loving her for her perkiness while others hated her, mostly because she was in the way of the Amy-Jonah ship. Carol, on the other hand, was kind of creepy and not liked much by the characters or the fans.

In a Reddit post, one user stated flat out that both characters were the worst ones on the show. There wasn’t any explanation for the opinion but the comments on the post questioned what Kelly had done so wrong to be lumped in with Carol.

2 Amy Ruined Her Own Marriage

At the start of the show, Amy was married to Adam and they had a daughter, Emma. It didn’t take long for the audience to see that she wasn’t happy in the marriage, especially when sparks began to fly between her and Jonah.

Adam was generally unliked by the audience, and some felt like he was to blame for the downfall of their marriage. But one Reddit user shared an unpopular opinion that Amy was just as responsible, if not more, for the marriage ending. She was often frustrated with him and short with him, and although Adam was a little immature at times, they both could have done better to communicate about their unhappiness.

1 Glenn Is Annoying

The flighty indecisiveness that Glenn was famous for and loved for by some fans made others hate him. In a Reddit post, a user stated that they hated Glenn because he was a whiny man-baby who shouldn’t have been made manager or even floor worker.

While he wasn’t a favorite of many, he did have some funny moments that made some fans warm up to him and even feel sympathetic towards him over the management job that he openly admitted was very stressful. He was kind of a mess but in an adorable way.
