Superstore keeps every fan on their toes, laughing along with front-line workers. The comedy is relatable, and still outrageous, with all the wild accidents that Jonah somehow ends up either being in the middle of or cleaning up. Each character is definitely unique and totally lovable, but the star of it all is undoubtedly Jonah Simms.

He is definitely the ‘odd’ one out when it comes to this quirky and bold crew, but that doesn’t mean fans don’t love everything he has to offer. There are some things that have every viewer shaking their head, from his political Halloween costumes to his awkward rambling, but mostly, Jonah is a quirky character with a big heart, and it’s time to celebrate his best qualities.

10 He’s Principled

Jonah might actually be the only character on the show that doesn’t change their mind or decide to step on the others around them to get ahead, regardless of how silly or meaningless the issue is. Instead, Jonah takes his values very seriously. While it’s hilarious for the others, it’s actually pretty admirable.

He can’t even figure out how to set up the display of the new ‘girl boss’ t-shirts because he doesn’t want to convey the wrong message. Jonah is definitely a man of principle, and while it can be annoying, it’s one of his best traits.

9 His Confidence

This character is definitely known for being a bit loose-lipped or overzealous, but he’s also extremely confident and bold in his actions. He doesn’t really care if people will think less of him or look at him strangely – he’s willing to do what he sets his mind to.

From looking like a fool at Emma’s quinceañera to protect her to being the last one to march around the parking lot boycotting Cloud 9, Jonah’s confidence is actually pretty refreshing and admirable, and he usually does so without being arrogant.

8 He’s Selfless

This character may be the punchline of a lot of jokes and get a lot of raised eyebrows, but that doesn’t stop Jonah from being kind and putting others above himself. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, and this actually might get him in some hot water.

Jonah wants Sandra to have the engagement party of her dreams and he wants Glenn to be respected and not stressed out. And these are only a couple examples, because everyone could learn a thing or two from his selflessness.

7 His Romantic Gestures

There’s definitely a bit of cheese when it comes to this character, but it’s actually pretty refreshing and sweet. Jonah cares a lot about Amy, and he bends over backward to make her happy and feel loved. He’s pretty impressive with his romantic gestures.

From setting up a starry sky in the star to Jonah embarking on a huge quest to retrieve her video game, Jonah is the king of making people feel appreciated. While it wasn’t exactly ‘romantic’, it’s also hard to forget him helping her through birth and being there for her kids.

6 His Button-Ups

Fashion isn’t exactly a high priority for the employees at Cloud 9, but Jonah is always looking sharp. In fact, even Garrett once said he really liked Jonah’s shirt, and that’s a pretty big deal for everyone. Jonah’s patterns and colors are uniquely him.

He’s always been known as the handsome or perfect one of the bunch, and this is really only cemented by his professional but different shirts. Jonah might just be up there with Cheyenne when it comes to slaying fashion – and it makes him the character everyone loves.

5 He’s Charming

It’s one think to dress nice and be handsome, but Jonah is just as sweet as pie and as charming as they come. Every viewer of this show probably has at least a bit of a crush on this character, and it’s no wonder that Amy fell head over heels for him.

And in the words of Glenn, “he looks like a panda and a Disney princess had a baby”, and that sums up charming and picture-perfect as well as anything. Jonah’s smiling face and kind heart make him a great catch on the show.

4 His Devotion

There’s no one more adamant to create a union or stick it to the man or get things done as Jonah Simms. He isn’t the best worker at the store, but he is when it comes to things he’s actually passionate about. He is devoted to making a difference, and it’s one of his best qualities.

Jonah wants Amy to have maternity leave and he wants everyone to have health care, and he’s also devoted to making the store a better place to work and to his fellow employees. Jonah is a great friend, and he’s also determined and passionate.

3 He’s Genuinely Himself

No matter how many times he’s laughed at by his co-workers, people have to respect that Jonah doesn’t try to be someone he’s not. He does like to fit in and be well-liked by people, but he’s certainly not willing to actually change who he is.

Jonah proudly dresses up as ‘gerrymandering’ for Halloween and stands up for himself and his values at all staff meetings. He’s okay being an odd duck, as long as he is himself. Besides, he probably knows being the odd one at the store actually makes him the most normal.

2 He’s Totally Peaceful

If there’s anyone who is totally against violence, hate, and conflict, it’s Jonah. He even hilariously lets a robber step by him in the store, because he said “excuse me”. He’s not afraid to bring up real-world issues – and he’s unwilling to work in the gun section of the store and certainly hates any kind of violence.

It’s quirky and a bit hysterical, but it is one of the key things that makes Jonah exactly who he is. It’s actually new and interesting to see such a peaceful male character on television, and Jonah isn’t afraid to be the one to make those waves.

1 He’s Extremely Awkward

While this is the one thing that makes Jonah super cringe-worthy and has every fan closing their eyes in embarrassment or shaking their heads, Jonah’s quirky awkwardness is a core part of his personality. His idiosyncrasies and weird habits are what make him the lovable guy he is.

Jonah Simms talks too much or too little and often doesn’t pick up on social cues or know how to handle conflict, and there’s always bound to be an awkward conversation or him making a scene. Of course, it’s hilariously and outrageously one of the best parts about him.
