Former Survivor contestant Lauren Beck recently responded to questions and concerns from fans regarding her health while competing on the show. Lauren Beck first appeared on the Survivor franchise for Survivor: Island of theIdols, where she came in fourth place out of 20 contestants. Lauren has been extremely open about her Survivor experiences on social media and frequently reveals some of the harsh realities contestants have faced during the competition.

Survivor season 39, otherwise known as Survivor: Island of the Idols, first aired on CBS in 2019. She approached the competition fiercely but was eliminated towards the end of the season, just short of becoming part of the final three. Still, after her time on the show, Lauren seems to have remained committed to the franchise. Lauren recently discussed the Survivor: 41 cast upon its reveal earlier this year and praised the season for its increased diversity compared to previous seasons. She often shares her opinions about the latest Survivor episodes as well and provides her own personal insight regarding various elements of the game on her social media platforms.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Recently, Lauren revealed a piece of information about her time on the show which sparked many concerns from fans on TikTok. In one video, Lauren responded to a fan who became confused and concerned about the health of contestants on the show after hearing that they had to wear the same pair of underwear for 38 consecutive days. “Wearing panties for 38 days straight, yes you do that,” Lauren began. She revealed that the situation did in fact have impacts on her health, saying “luckily, or unluckily, I got a UTI.” She explained that this occurred around day 32 of the ordeal and that other women on Survivor season 39, unfortunately, suffered the same fate.

Lauren additionally claims that while the show did provide new underwear for contestants, they were stepped on in dirt to “throw in a little razzle-dazzle.” She captioned the video “in short, it sucked,” including a smiling teardrop emoji. Some fans responded to the claims, noting that this situation may not have occurred had the show been created by people other than cis men. Reasonably, others remained shocked, questioning if the bit about the underwear having been stomped on was a joke or not. “I think being honest all of the time is probably my weakness,” Lauren replied. She also explained to one curious commenter that contestants bring whatever period supplies they need and the show replenishes them as needed. Sandra Diaz-Twine, Survivor‘s first two-time winner commented on Lauren’s post, saying “I got you beat on Pearl Islands. 38 days straight with the clothes on my back,” prompting Lauren to pin the comment and reply “THE QUEEN STAYS QUEEN.”

Competing on Survivor doesn’t seem like it would be an overly comfortable experience, but hearing what both Lauren and Sandra have had to say about it definitely may change some viewers’ perspectives. Considering the fact that Sandra says she had to wear the same outfit for the entire duration of Pearl Islands, it doesn’t seem far-fetched at all that season 39 contestants were left without clean underwear. As for whether or not the new underwear was given the “razzle-dazzle,” it may have been a joke. Despite her lightheartedness in both her video and the comments, however, she never denied any of her claims in responses to fans. Hopefully, Lauren was just being her typical humorous self and exaggerating for effect. One main takeaway from Lauren’s experience is that if one is going to compete on Survivor, they had better pack some extra pairs of underwear just in case.

Survivor airs Wednesdays at 8pm EST on CBS.
