After a lengthy absence, Tales From the Borderlands is returning to digital retailers. Telltale’s beloved entry into Gearbox’s insane galactic universe will no longer be a rarity and fans can continue to bang on various doors to try and get a sequel greenlit.

Tales From the Borderlands was pulled from digital retailers such as the PlayStation Store about 2 years ago following the closure of Telltale Games. Various titles from the studio’s catalogue were pulled from retailers but a few have bubbled back up, like the Batman games. For a while, though, it was impossible to get Tales from the Borderlands without finding a used physical copy. 2K Games has rectified the situation but with a minor adjustment to the game itself.

Today on The Borderlands Show, 2K and Gearbox has confirmed that Tales From the Borderlands will return to digital retailers next week. The game will release a single package as opposed to the a la carte option for all 5 episodes that Telltale previously used. Players can also access the game on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 via backward compatibility. The studio also confirmed that the game will not have its usual choice stats at the end of each level. In most Telltale games, players could see what choices they made at the end of each episode and compare how their choices stacked up to other players who have finished it as well. The feature has been removed for unknown reasons, but it could possibly be something to do with Telltale’s data.

Tales From the Borderlands is one of the most acclaimed games from Telltale, showing the studio’s ability to dabble in other video game universes that aren’t its own. The game is considered canon to Gearbox and the characters have even made re-appearances in Borderlands 2 DLC and Borderlands 3. The game will only be available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC but hopefully, a Nintendo Switch version will also come later down the line.

The Borderlands universe is going to continue to expand, but this time outside of video games. A Borderlands movie is in active development from Eli Roth and the cast is stacking up quite quickly. So far, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart, and Cate Blanchett have joined the film in various roles. The movie currently has no release date but the fact it’s gaining steam so quickly is proving to be promising.

Tales From the Borderlands will re-release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on February 17, 2021.
