Apple debuts the full trailer for Ted Lasso season 2, which sees Jason Sudeikis return as the caring coach and teases a new side of the character. Co-developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly, the character originated from a series of promotions for NBC Sports’ coverage of the Premier League. The show sees Sudeikis’ titular American college football coach recruited to help a struggling English Premier League team.

First debuting last summer, Ted Lasso has been a major hit for the streaming platform, drawing solid viewership and rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and landing Sudeikis a Golden Globe win. A week after its three-episode series premiere, Apple TV+ greenlit a season 2 for the comedy and their faith in the show is clearly strong as they have ordered a season 3 ahead of its return. After nearly a year of Ted’s absence from the screen, Apple is getting fans ready for the lovable coach’s return.

With just a month remaining until season 2 premieres, Apple has debuted the official trailer for the next chapter of Ted Lasso. In addition to a glimpse at more of the kind-hearted optimism the character is known for, the trailer offers a look at some of the hurdles he’ll have to overcome in the new season. Check out the trailer below:

Previous teases for season 2 of the series have hinted at Ted’s biggest conflict coming from the arrival of Sarah Niles’ team psychologist, Sarah, but interestingly enough she is entirely absent from the latest trailer. Instead, it appears Ted will have to deal with the ongoing struggle of turning his team around from the devastating loss to Manchester City at the end of season 1. But at the very least, it looks as though the support from his coaching staff and newly-befriended Rebecca Welton will assist him in helping drive the team to glory.

One of the reasons Ted Lasso proved to be such a hit amongst audiences last year was its upbeat nature and character, something many needed in a time in which these personality traits were largely absent from the world. Though the world is returning back to normal and most are getting the opportunity to see each other in person again, the impending return of the bright and cheery Ted is sure to send waves of joy throughout the world. With just a month left until season 2 premieres on July 23, the wait is almost over.
