Season 2 just officially wrapped on Ted Lasso and it managed to live up to the lofty expectations set by the inaugural season. The Apple TV+ series became a huge hit, evidenced by the 20 Emmy awards that it was nominated for. It makes sense given that almost every aspect of the show is praised.

Whether it’s the incredibly likable and talented cast, the fleshed-out characters, the sports drama, or the hilarious moments, they all come together to make each episode special. That’s why so many of them have received such high ratings from the users on IMDb, with these installments standing out.

10 Carol Of The Bells (Season 2, Episode 4) – 8.7

Most shows run their Christmas episodes during the holiday season but Ted Lasso went a different route. This premiered during the summer, yet certainly didn’t lack the Christmas cheer. In many ways, this was the show at its best because each of the storylines was as wholesome as the characters the fans have come to love.

The friendship between Rebecca and Ted grew as she brought him along for charitable work while he was missing his son, while Keeley and Roy had a side-splitting storyline about Roy’s niece Phoebe having rancid breath. However, the highlight might’ve been most of the team coming over to Higgins’ home to celebrate with his family.

9 No Weddings And A Funeral (Season 2, Episode 10) – 8.8

This episode started on a sweet note as Rebecca and Sam’s secret relationship was going well until her mom showed up to reveal that her father had passed away. That brought all of the characters together for the funeral, which included Rebecca being touched that the entire team even showed up for her.

Emotions ran high as Keeley excitedly figured out that Rebecca was seeing Sam and Jamie told Keeley that he loved her. There was also a special moment where Rebecca recounted a story about her father as Ted laid out the details of his own dad’s suicide to Dr. Sharon, with the scenes intercutting each other. You also have to appreciate that Ted Lasso somehow turned a funeral episode into a place to Rick Roll everyone watching.

8 The Diamond Dogs (Season 1, Episode 8) – 8.8

One of the best aspects of season 1 was seeing the “Diamond Dogs” come together. This group consists of Ted, Coach Beard, Higgins, and Nate, as the men team up to give advice to anyone looking for it. At first, they helped Ted understand that his hookup with Rebecca’s friend Sassy was nothing to feel guilty about.

Then, they got to assist Roy, which led to true hilarity as you could see it annoyed him to come to them. Alas, their words worked as Roy finally asked Keeley out, officially marking the beginning of a romance that fans love. There was also the bar scene where Ted stood up to Rupert in honor of Rebecca and beat him at darts.

7 The Signal (Season 2, Episode 6) – 8.9

So many threads that ended season 2 were established in this episode. AFC Richmond was on a hot streak thanks to the addition of Roy Kent to the coaching staff, which upset Nate. However, Nate stepped up and led the team to a victory after Ted left the field due to a panic attack.

That panic attack would be what Nate used against him later in the season and opened the door for Ted to finally talk with Dr. Sharon. The title came from the sign that Roy gave to Jamie to access his arrogant side and be the goal scorer the team needs, adding another dimension to their relationship.

6 Tan Lines (Season 1, Episode 5) – 9.0

Ted taking a job across the world when he had his wife and son at home was never fully explained, though “Tan Lines” made it clear that things weren’t great at home. Although Ted and Michelle still had love for each other, they weren’t working out as a married couple and her visit to England hammered that home.

The two shared several emotional scenes in this installment, including Ted understanding that he needed to let her go. This was also a major turning point for Ted as a coach, as he made the surprise decision to bench his star player as his selfish attitude was rubbing the other players the wrong way.

5 Inverting The Pyramid Of Success (Season 2, Episode 12) – 9.1

The season 2 finale was met with widespread acclaim as it gave viewers a satisfying conclusion to several plot threads while also setting things up for season 3. Ted had to deal with the fallout from his panic attack being leaked to the press by Nate and in typical Ted fashion, he didn’t get mad at Nate. Instead, he wanted to know how to do better.

Nate responded by viciously lashing out at him and ended the season by leaving AFC Richmond to coach West Ham, which was now owned by Rupert. Sam chose to stay with the team, while Roy and Keeley put their relationship to the test again. The underrated high point was Jamie coming full circle by giving up a chance to win the game to Dani, who succeeded.

4 Rainbow (Season 2, Episode 5) – 9.2

The beginning of season 2 saw Roy unsure of what to do after retirement. He coached his niece’s team, hung out with yoga moms, and even got a job as an analyst. However, when Ted got him to help the new team captain, Roy realized how much he missed the game.

Roy ended the episode by walking into the stadium to loud chants to accept a coaching position in a scene designed to give viewers goosebumps. This installment also saw Nate struggle to get respect in his attempt to get his parents a dinner table for their anniversary, which played into his overall arc.

3 Man City (Season 2, Episode 8) – 9.2

A recurring theme on the show is that Ted seems to win over everyone with his endless charm. Dr. Sharon, a psychiatrist brought in to help the team, took longer than others but they finally seemed to really click in “Man City,” as Ted was by her side following a bike accident.

This episode was also big for Sam, Rebecca, and Jamie. The latter finally stood up to his father and broke down, embracing Roy. Meanwhile, Sam and Rebecca found out that they were the person the other was talking to romantically online, which neither expected. The team also suffered a setback, getting blown out in a big game.

2 The Hope That Kills You (Season 1, Episode 10) – 9.2

The season 1 finale started with the heartwarming scene of Nate getting promoted to coach. From that point on, it was a roller coaster of emotions. Jamie, on his new team, insulted AFC Richmond ahead of the important final game of the season. He kept thinking Ted was playing mind games with him but Ted was simply a nice guy.

After AFC Richmond tied the game late, Jamie took Ted’s advice and passed to his teammate for a game-winning goal. The loss caused Ted and his team to get demoted in a crushing scene that set the stage for a season 2 redemption. This also had the emotional final game for Roy Kent.

1 Make Rebecca Great Again (Season 1, Episode 7) – 9.2

Although Rebecca brought in Ted to make the team lose as part of her revenge plot against her ex-husband, he won her over. That was never more clear than in this episode as the team went to Liverpool for a game. She actually comforted Ted when he had a panic attack and was there for him like nobody else.

This was also a big installment to really establish how special the friendship between Keeley and Rebecca had become. AFC Richmond won the game and went out to celebrate at a bar where Rebecca sang, Ted hooked up with Sassy, and Roy kissed Keeley for the first time.
