Teen Wolf star Ian Bohen gives an update on whether Tyler Hoechlin will return for the upcoming Paramount+ movie. Back in November 2021, on the fourth anniversary of its series finale, it was announced that a Teen Wolf movie was in the works. Slated to arrive later this year on the Paramount+ streaming service, the movie’s logline teases that a new terrifying evil has emerged in the town of Beacon Hills. Many of the show’s villains, from Banshees to Hellhounds, will resurface. And along with them, Tyler Posey will be back in the role of Scott McCall to reunite with his friends and battle against the most powerful enemy they’ve ever faced.

Along with Posey coming back to reprise his role, and series creator Jeff Davis writing the script, the Teen Wolf: The Movie cast will feature familiar faces from the popular MTV supernatural drama. Some of the names include Crystal Reed, Holland Roden, Shelley Hennig and Colton Haynes. At the time, it was mentioned that not all cast members would be revealed at once. And, in new remarks, Bohen seemingly confirms his involvement as Peter Hale and sounds optimistic that Hoechlin – who played Derek Hale – will also reprise his role.

Speaking with TV Line, Bohen mentioned Hoechlin’s possible return. The two actors currently share the screen on The CW’s Superman & Lois, and Bohen sounded hopeful that they’d be able to work together on Teen Wolf: The Movie as well. Bohen added that filming on the project will start soon, so fans should get a definitive answer one way or another. Bohen’s quote is included below.

“We would love to do that together, and I can absolutely see a world where we are reunited. I know they’re shooting here pretty soon, so you will have a definite yea or nay forthcoming for certain. But I feel positive about it. I wouldn’t want to see a movie where Derek and Peter weren’t in it.”

Hoechlin is one of a few prominent Teen Wolf alums not mentioned in the initial announcement. Dylan O’Brien, who portrayed Stiles Stilinski, and Arden Cho, who starred as Kira Yukimura, are also not involved with the Paramount+ continuation. Cho, the only woman of color among her four female co-stars, was reportedly offered half their salary. As for O’Brien, though it’s unclear why he declined to return, the actor liked several tweets in support of Cho. When asked about the movie by TV Line previously, Hoechlin replied that “anything’s possible.”

Bohen is right to point out that Teen Wolf: The Movie wouldn’t feel quite right without characters like Derek and Peter. Although the MTV series didn’t wrap up perfectly, it left the story in a definitive place. There were no cliffhangers or pressing mysteries to resolve. The appeal is, more than anything, especially for longtime fans, in seeing popular actors and their characters show up for at least a few scenes. Hopefully, for fans who want to see Hoechlin as Derek in Teen Wolf: The Movie, that is still a possibility.
