Paramount’s upcoming Teen Wolf film has now been revealed to act as a setup for a future series set within the film’s established universe, titled Wolf Pack. The original series, loosely based on the 1985 film of the same name, aired on MTV and was a huge success for the network, garnering praise for its cast’s performances, writing, and its expansive use of supernatural lore, including werewolves, banshees, and even chimeras. The show premiered in June 2011 and ran for six seasons, concluding in September 2017 before its popularity evoked the want for a revival.

Teen Wolf follows teenager Scott McCall after he is bitten by a mysterious animal in his hometown of Beacon Hills and he begins to experience odd changes to his physiology, slowly transforming into a werewolf. The series was headlined by a series of talented cast members, including the likes of Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed, Dylan O’Brien, Tyler Hoechlin, Holland Roden, Colton Haynes, Shelley Henning, and Arden Cho. The upcoming revival film is returning to the aforementioned small town as various supernatural creatures make their return and the returning protagonists must put a stop to them.

In a recent post from the official Paramount+ Twitter account, the streaming service revealed that not only would the film see original Teen Wolf characters returning to the small screen, but would also set up a brand new series in its wake. The upcoming spin-off will be titled Wolf Pack and will be based on the book of the same name written by author Edo van Belkom, which revolves around a small pack of wolf cubs being discovered by a ranger after a forest fire who quickly realizes that they are no ordinary wolves. Below the announcement, many fans made their excitement for the show’s universe to make its return. View the tweet below:

Whilst excitement for the original Teen Wolf series to make its return in some form was always extremely high, past reports of some original cast members not returning negatively impacted some opinions of the revival. In particular, the exclusion of fan-favorite Stiles Stilinksi, portrayed by Dylan O’Brien, rubbed fans the wrong way and already made the return of other characters underwhelming. Alongside O’Brien, Arden Cho, who portrayed Kira Yukimura, has also confirmed that she will not be returning to her character, making fans almost nervous for this upcoming take on the series.

Despite the varying opinions on the film’s casting, it is without a doubt that fans are excited for whatever comes next in the Teen Wolf universe as they get to see the next chapters of these characters’ lives. Furthermore, with a brand new series coming just after a revival film, it can be assumed that the franchise is long from over and will continue with new projects in the future. Teen Wolf is expected to hit Paramount+ at some point in 2022.
