Tell Me Your Secrets Cast & Character Guide
The Tell Me Your Secrets cast features lead performances from TV veterans Lily Rabe and Amy Brenneman, and the supporting cast is full of familiar faces. Created and written by Harriet Warner, the 10-episode Amazon Prime thriller centers on a woman who blocked out painful memories after her serial killer boyfriend went to prison.
Tell Me Your Secrets begins with Emma Hall (Rabe) beginning a new life in the Witness Protection Program. Flashback sequences reveal that her boyfriend Kit murdered several women in Louisiana, but she can’t remember if she was somehow complicit. In a side-narrative, Mary Barlow (Brenneman) looks for her missing daughter, Theresa, and hires a convicted rapist, John Tyler, to investigate various leads. Tell Me Your Secrets explores the ties that bind the main characters, along with the dark history of a Louisiana foster home.
Tell Me Your Secrets‘ main cast members are mostly known for their TV work, and American Horror Story fans will immediately recognize Rabe. However, there are plenty of other recognizable stars in the cast.
Lily Rabe As Emma Hall
Lily Rabe stars as Emma Hall, a woman who enters the Witness Protection Program. She feels guilty about what she might’ve done in the past, but may actually be a victim in a Southern crime conspiracy. Rabe starred as the title character in Miss Stevens and portrayed Sylvia Steineitz in The Undoing. She has also appeared in multiple seasons of American Horror Story.
Amy Brenneman As Mary Barlow
Amy Brenneman co-stars as Mary Barlow, a woman who searches for her missing daughter and will do anything to find out the truth. She hires a convicted rapist to better understand the criminal mind, and makes a fateful decision during a trip to Minnesota. Brenneman portrayed Eady in Heat and starred as Amy Gray in the TV series Judging Amy. In recent years, she appeared as Laurie Garvey in The Leftovers on HBO and Diana Blackwood in Goliath.
Hamish Linklater As John Tyler
Hamish Linklater portrays John Tyler, a convicted rapist who offers to help Mary look for his daughter. He proves to be quite useful, but also feels tempted to hurt women as he becomes immersed in his investigation. Linklater portrayed Leonard in Fantastic Four and Porter Collins in The Big Short. He also appeared as Larue Dollard in Fargo season 3 and Clark DeBussy in Legion.
Enrique Murciano As Peter Guillory
Enrique Murciano appears as Peter Guillory, a man who privately helps Emma move forward with her new life. He has marriage problems and protects information about his past. Murciano portrayed Danny Taylor in Without a Trace, Marco Diaz in Bloodline, and Senator Joseph Ramirez in Briarpatch. He also appeared as Alejandro in Speed 2: Cruise Control and Ruiz in Black Hawk Down.
Ashley Madekwe As Lisa Guillory
Ashley Madekwe portrays Lisa Guillory, Peter’s wife who struggles with her husband’s controlling nature. Madekwe portrayed Tituba in Salem and Ashley Davenport in Revenge. She recently appeared as Detective Eudora Patch in The Umbrella Academy, Julia in Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Simone Garland in Tell Me a Story.
Chiara Aurelia As Rose Lord
Chiara Aurelia portrays Rose Lord, a Louisiana girl who becomes sexually attracted to Emma. She has a powerful father and doesn’t handle rejection well. Aurelia appeared as Young Jessie in Gerald’s Game and Verina Curtis in The Brave. She currently portrays Jeanette in Cruel Summer.
Elliot Fletcher As Jake Barlow
Elliot Fletcher appears as Jake Barlow, Mary’s son who proves to be the voice of reason throughout the series. He keeps an eye on his mother’s questionable behavior, and looks for clues about the truth in case files. Fletcher portrayed Trevor in Shameless and Aaron Baker in The Fosters.
Xavier Samuel As Kit Parker
Xavier Samuel appears as Kit Parker, a serial killer who dated Emma in the past. In flashback sequences, his complicated relationships with women are revealed. Samuel appeared as Riley in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and Lieutenant Parker in Fury.
Tell Me Your Secrets’ Supporting Cast
Marque Richardson as Tom Johnston: A detective who tries to spark up a romance with Emma. Marque Richardson portrayed Kenneth in True Blood and Reggie in Dear White People. He currently appears as King Curtis in Genius season 3.
Bryant Tardy as Jay Abellard: A resident at the Jerome House who provides Emma with tips about a missing girl. Bryant Tardy portrayed Bobby in Logan and Chubby in Queen & Slim. He currently appears as Topher Dunn in Secrets of Sulphur Springs.
Stella Baker as Theresa Barlow: Mary’s daughter who went missing in January 2011. Stell Baker had a small role in The Mentalist season 7 and portrayed Sarah Cooper in The Republic of Sarah.
Katherine Willis as Diana Lord: Rose’s mother who thinks that Emma may be corrupting her daughter. Katherine Willis portrayed Joanne Street in the TV series Friday Night Lights and SAC Agent Caryn Trusdale in Queen of the South.
Richard Thomas as Bodie Lord: Rose’s father, a man with unclear motivations. Richard Thomas portrayed John-Boy Walton in The Waltons and Bill Denbrough in It (1990). He also appeared as Frank Gaad in The Americans.
Emyri Crutchfield as Jess Cairns: A girl who is defended by Emma in the first episode before disappearing. Emyri Crutchfield portrayed Sheila Peterson in Vacation and Teen Miss Kizzy in Roots. She recently appeared as Ethelrida Pearl Smutny in Fargo season 4.
Charles Esten as Saul Barlow: Mary’s husband. Charles Esten portrayed Deacon Claybourne in Nashville and Ward Cameron in Outer Banks.
Chase Stokes as Adam: A young man who has an affair with Mary. Chase Stokes portrayed Reed in Stranger Things season 1 and starred as John B in Outer Banks.
Gabriella Garcia as Tina Moreno: A foster child at the Jerome House. Gabriella Garcia portrayed Erica Moran in Black Lightning and Jan in The Walking Dead: World Beyond.
Corey Mendell Parker as Van Walker: The bipolar father of a missing girl. Corey Mendell Parker portrayed Howard Vaughan in Hidden Figures and Lammy in the 2017 science fiction film Geostorm.
Charmin Lee as Kamala Walker: Van’s wife who has a private recording of a meeting wit Kit. Charmin Lee portrayed Ms. Paulson in The 5th Wave and Alice Stevenson in Just Mercy.
Bobbi Baker as Georgia Dubreaux: A leader at the Jerome House. Bobbi Baker portrayed KiKi in House of Payne and Tanya in Madea Goes to Jail.
Deanna Dunagan as Esther Moses: A Minnesota woman who once ran a foster home. Deanna Dunagan portrayed Nana in The Visit and Mother Bernadette in The Exorcist (2016).
