One of the most enjoyable aspects of the Japanese reality TV show, Terrace House, is its long running format, which allows viewers to really get to know the various housemates. In the case of the series’ fourth and longest season to date, Opening New Doors, 49 long weeks were spent inside the lavish mansion in the mountainous Kuraizawa region of Japan.

Of the 19 housemates to join the show, some lasted as few as seven weeks while others lasted as many as 34. Since the show concluded in the summer of 2018, the housemates have continued to chase their dreams, come of age, and pursue ultimate happiness.

Since departing Terrace House, Noah Ishikura has been living his best life. In addition to launching his own popular YouTube channel and landing professional modeling gigs, he tied the knot with fellow housemate Seina Shimabukuro in February of 2021.

When he entered the house, Noah explained how he was poised to inherit his father’s airline business at the age of 25. With less than six months until his birthday, Noah and Seina are set up for an ultra-successful future.

9 Maya Kisanuki Had A Baby & Is Modeling  – 15 Episodes

At just 19 years old, aspiring model and fashion student Maya Kisanuki was tied with Yuudai for the youngest housemate when joining Opening New Doors. In the last two months, she gave birth to a baby boy, her first child, at the age of 22.

In addition to becoming a brand new mom, Maya has secured representation from the Bravo Models Tokyo agency. When she isn’t taking care of her newborn or looking after her pair of beloved Shibas, Maya continues to pursue her dream as a professional fashionista.

8 Kaito Nakata Travels The World Skateboarding – 15 Episodes

As one of the cooler and more laidback housemates, professional skateboarder, Kaito Nakata, continues to shred half-pipes, bust kickflips, and 50-50 grind his way through various streets and skateparks around the world to this day.

After spending 15 weeks in Terrace House and making it to the final episode, Kaito appeared in one episode of the follow-up season, Terrace House: Tokyo 2019-2020. While not the most active social media user, Kaito’s most recent updates indicate that he currently continues to travel the globe in search of the most challenging places to skate.

7 Ami Komuro Is Modeling & Acting – 17 Episodes

Twenty-year-old aspiring model, Ami Komuro, entered Terrace House as the first official cast member. When she left after four months, her reason was to continue to pursue her modeling career in Tokyo. Since then, Ami has realized her dream.

In addition to landing gigs as an official model, Ami made her acting debut when she joined the cast of the Japanese TV series Cheers to the Miki Clinic in 2019. According to Ami’s IG, she has been recently modeling for such brands as Mul and Dear Sister.

6 Shion Okamoto Is Modeling – 21 Episodes

As part of the original cast, Shion Okamoto was the sixth member to join Terrace House: Opening New Doors. The handsome 6-foot-2-inch half-Japanese model forged one of the most adorable romances with hockey player Tsubasa Soto before leaving the house together after 21 weeks.

Alas, the beloved power couple has since called it quits, although no satisfying reason has been given for why. Still, Shion continues to model for such esteem brands as Brooks Brothers Japan. In August 2020, he was reportedly arrested for possessing a small amount of cannabis.

5 Tsubasa Sato Is Still Playing Hockey- 21 Episodes

According to an IG post made two months ago, beloved housemate and superstar hockey player Tsubasa Sato continues to play for her hometown team, the Kuraizawa Fairies. One of her biggest dilemmas on the show was staying in town to play for her local team or branching out to Tokyo and Hokkaido to play for other squads.

In addition to serving as team captain for the Fairies, Tsubasa also started her own blog where she updates her fans on her travel, professional career, and outdoors activities.

4 Shohei Uemura Travels The World With His Band – 22 Episodes

During his four-and-a-half-month stay in Terrace House, jazzy soul singer Shohei Uemura had a very hard time finding love. Just as he mounted the courage to tell Ami that he liked her, she left four days later. When he later tried hard to woo Seina, she ultimately rejected him in favor of Noah.

However, Shohei’s appearance on the show helped raise the profile of his band, Three1989, a swanky soul-pop trio. Since leaving the show, the band has released several albums, gone on two national tours, and enjoyed a huge increase in fans around the globe. In May of 2021, Three1989 released their newest album, “Private Castle.”

3 Seina Shimabukuro Is Modeling, Acting & Married Noah – 25 Episodes

As the official Terrace House mascot, mainstay Seina Shimabukuro has appeared on every season of the series so far. Her longest tenure came in Opening New Doors, although her chance at romance seemed hopeless for quite a while.

In addition to curating a giant social media following as an influencer, model, and actress, Seina got married to fellow housemate Noah Ishikura in February 2021. The two currently reside in Tokyo, where he is poised to assume his father’s airline company while she continues to model for top-tier Japanese brands.

2 Yui Tanaka Is Modeling – 28 Episodes

As the second-longest tenured housemate, Yui Tanaka ended up achieving her primary goal of making friends inside the lavish mansion. Now age 24, Yui currently serves as the director and model for the Mistletoe fashion line.

In 2020, Tanaka raised awareness about her time being bullied online while on the show. Tanaka felt the need to address the topic when cruel online bullying led to one of the cast members of the most recent season of Terrace House, Tokyo 2019-2020, Hana Kimura, taking her own life.

1 Takayuki Nakamura Snowboards, Runs His Own Company & Got Married – 34 Episodes

Remaining in the house for longer than anybody, professional snowboarder Takayuki Nakamura flirted with genuine romance several times. His departure from the house alone left many viewers worried about his love life.

In addition to furthering his professional snowboarding career, Taka currently runs his own beer and pizza apparel line, Taka Brew. In terms of romance, Taka finally found his match in Reika Nozawa, the first runner-up as Miss Universe Japan 2018. The two got married in June 2020. That same year, Taka became a pescatarian and the couple rescued a pair of dogs.
