Mike and Molly was a sitcom that ran on CBS from 2010 to 2016. Starring Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardel, the series follows both Mike and Molly as a couple who meet in a Chicago Overeaters Anonymous group and go on to fall in love.

The series would go on to receive two Primetime Emmy Awards including an Outstanding Lead Actress award for Melissa McCarthy, as well as an award for Outstanding Cinematography. In addition to Emmy awards, Melissa McCarthy also received a People’s Choice award for favorite comedic actress.

While the series only ran for six years, it certainly left an impact on the population. Here we take a look at the 10 best episodes of Mike and Molly, according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB).

10 One Small Step For Mike: Score 7.5

The tenth-placed episode on this list is an exercise themed episode. The plot is based around Molly taking up exercise by walking and then trying to get Mike to join her on walks.

In order to do so, she purchases a FitBit for both her and Mike. However, as Mike barely manages to add any steps to his FitBit, he gives it to Samuel to wear. Samuel then goes on to rack up seven miles on the FitBit just walking around the restaurant. Knowing that the sudden spike in steps will cause Molly to get suspicious, Mike then pretends to have lost the FitBit.

9 Peg O’ My Heartattack: Score 7.5

This episode is structured around an argument between Molly and Peggy. Peggy invited Molly to a post-book trip, but Molly is in opposition to the idea and the ensuing argument leads Peggy to have a heart attack. Mike backs up his mother and argues that Molly is consistently negative towards Peggy.

The episode has a heartwarming ending, however, as both Molly and Peggy make up, admit that they are friends and that Molly was not to blame for the heart attack. This episode is a classic episode of Mike and Molly, blending the heartwarming with the comedic.

8 The Good Wife: Score 7.5

‘The Good Wife’ is a perfect passive-aggressive episode. Mike shows an increasing concern with the fact that Molly does not do any household work and appears to avoid writing in order to hang out with her friends. Mike then tells Molly what is on his mind and this upsets his wife.

As an act of perfect revenge, Molly then starts acting like the perfect wife. This episode carries some of the more iconic and funny scenes in the Mike and Molly series, while also including a vital moral lesson. This episode is truly a ‘be careful what you wish for’ kind of tale for Mike.

7 The Rehearsal: Score 7.6

Mike and Molly have only a meager two days before their wedding day. However, terrible results unfold as they go through their wedding rehearsal.

The wedding rehearsal also raises the subject of Vince and Joyce’s marriage, with Vince informing Molly that he is still technically married to his ex-wife. Additionally, the wedding rehearsal is not helped by the fact that Mike’s parents persistently bicker throughout the whole event. The event is clearly stressful for Mike and Molly, with Mike and Carl then having to arrange a genuine divorce for Vince.

6 Checkpoint Joyce: Score 7.6

Checkpoint Joyce is a monumental episode of Mike and Molly as it is the one-hundredth episode of the sitcom. This episode is also memorable as it is the episode in which Mike is forced to arrest Joyce.

Mike and Carl are working on a drunk driving checkpoint when Joyce pulls through the checkpoint. While Mike was originally planning on letting her drive through the checkpoint, Joyce was acting antagonistically so Mike brought her to the station. After this event, Joyce’s family then discusses Joyce’s drinking habits with her in order to try to get her to cut back.

5 Whatever Happened To Baby Peggy: Score 7.6

Molly finds a corn husk doll while interviewing Peggy for inspiration in her new book. Peggy tells Molly that the corn husk doll was made by her own mother, but then refuses to divulge any more information about her past.

While Mike is insistent that his family does not talk about inner feelings or emotions, Molly is stubborn and eventually gets the truth out of Peggy. After the truth is divulged, Mike then goes to speak to his mother.

This episode is truly heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time, while somehow managing to add in good-natured humor.

4 The Wreck Of The Vincent Moranto: Score 7.6

The concept around this episode is based around a conflict between Vince and Mike. Both Mike and Vince have been working on remodeling a boat. However, and unfortunately for Mike, Vince then decides to sell the boat to a third party.

Mike, on the other hand, was not given the opportunity to sign off on this sale and felt cheated out of the opportunity to remodel the boat. This episode causes Mike to experience flashbacks to the empty promises made by his father.

3 Cops On The Rocks: Score 7.7

As per the title of the episode, Mike and Carl have been feuding of late. Consequently, they have both requested to be given a new partner at work in the police force. However, the grass is rarely greener on the other side of the fence and both Mike and Carl find out that life with their new partner is even worse than it was with each other.

Additionally, Molly and Peggy are attempting to promote their new book, but there are issues in getting Peggy to actually attend the on-air interviews.

2 Baby, Please Don’t Go: Score 7.9

This is another touching and important episode in the series. During this episode, Molly heartbreakingly discovers that one of her former fourth-grade students, Frannie, is now living on the streets while pregnant.

The episode manages to maintain good humor while also dealing with a subject matter as serious and relevant as homelessness. Subsequently, it is no surprise that this episode manages to find itself so high on this list.

1 I See Love: Score 8.6

The final episode of the series is, perhaps, the most touching and heartwarming of them all. At the birth of Mike and Molly’s adopted child, the family and friends begin to assemble at the hospital. Mike and Molly then start to recount tales of their relationship that have led them to this monumental and life-changing event.

This episode is the perfect end to this series. While it may be disappointing that we will never get to see Mike and Molly as parents, it was a heartwarming episode that carefully blended in humor.
