With the upcoming release of the new Jurassic Park movie, Jurassic World Dominion, and the recent release of the newest trailer for the film showing off the return of the original three actors to the franchise, what better time to rank Jeff Goldblum’s best movies. Jeff Goldblum has had a truly legendary career in film, starring in some iconic Hollywood classics.

The actor is known for his incredible range as well as his endearing off-camera personality. Goldblum’s iconic career ranges from minor cameos and small parts in indie dramas to leading roles in some of the biggest action blockbusters of all time.

10 Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1978) – 7.4

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers is a classic sci-fi horror about alien pods coming to earth and taking over human bodies and replicating them into emotionless automatons. This film is one of the oldest on the list and one of Jeff Goldblum’s earliest starring roles.

Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, and Leonard Nimoy co-star along with Goldblum. Despite being one of his lowest-rated movies, the film is a classic in the horror genre and is definitely one of Goldblum’s most memorable performances. Fans love seeing Goldblum in anything sci-fi or horror-related.

9 The Player (1992) – 7.5

The Player is Robert Altman’s classic comedy-drama about the film industry in which a studio executive is being sent death threats by the writer of a script he passed on, but he can’t figure out which script it was. The film stars Tim Robbins in the titular role, as well as Whoopi Goldberg and Vincent D’Onofrio, and has celebrity cameos from a ton of famous actors including Jeff Goldblum.

This isn’t the only Robert Altman and Jeff Goldblum collaboration on the list, as fans absolutely love seeing the actor pop up in the legendary filmmaker’s work.  The Player is a classic satire on the film industry from an incredibly respected filmmaker.

8 The Fly (1986) – 7.6

The Fly is a sci-fi horror classic, written and directed by David Cronenberg, about a scientist who slowly begins to morph and change into something else as he becomes obsessed with his most recent failed experiment.

Cronenberg is known for his unsettling and futuristic themes, but this is definitely one of the weirder and more horror-centric films on the list. However, it really helped project Goldblum’s career, as fans loved his and Geena Davis’s performances and chemistry in the gruesome film. Fans cite this as one of the best horror films with social commentary.

7 Nashville (1975) – 7.7

Nashville is a comedy-drama about a group of interrelated people and stories as everyone prepares for a political convention over the course of a few days.  This is the second collaboration between legendary filmmaker Robert Altman and Jeff Goldblum.

Although Nashville came out over 15 years before The Player and was filmed at the start of Goldblum’s career, both roles are relatively small parts among larger ensemble casts, as Robert Altman is known for working with large all-star casts. Nashville stars Keith Carradine, David Arkin, Shelley Duvall, and Karen Black.

6 The Right Stuff (1983) – 7.8

The Right Stuff is a biographical adventure drama about the U.S. space program’s development and the real-life Mercury 7 astronauts that put their life on the line to break the sound barrier.

The movie stars Dennis Quaid, Ed Harris, Sam Shepard, and Scott Glenn. It’s one of a few movies on the list that have gone on to be classics that Jeff Goldblum had a very small supporting role in very early on in his career. Goldblum provides brief comedic relief as a recruiter tasked with finding the perfect pilots for the new program.

5 Isle Of Dogs (2018) – 7.8

Isle of Dogs is a stop motion animated adventure comedy set in Japan about a boy’s incredible odyssey to find his lost dog.  The film is Jeff Goldblum and writer/director Wes Anderson’s third and most recent collaboration. It features an all-star cast, with frequent Anderson collaborators Edward Norton, Bill Murray, and Frances McDormand co-starring alongside Goldblum and Bryan Cranston.

Despite being the lowest-rated collaboration between Goldblum and Anderson, fans loved the combination of the unique animation style and story.

4 Thor: Ragnarok (2017) – 7.9

Thor: Ragnarok is Taika Waititi’s newest entry into Marvel’s Thor franchise. The film is an action-adventure comedy about Thor racing against time to stop the destruction of his world at the hands of his ruthless and powerful sister, Hela.

Jeff Goldblum doesn’t have the largest part in the film, but his role as Grandmaster, and overall entrance into the Marvel universe, was praised by fans. Many consider this to be one of the best Thor films in the franchise and one of the funniest in the MCU. Thor: Ragnarok co-stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, and Cate Blanchett.

3 Annie Hall (1977) – 8.0

Annie Hall is a legendary romantic comedy from controversial writer-director Woody Allen about a divorced comedian reflecting on the end of his relationship with Annie Hall and how it ended, much like his previous marriages. The film stars Woody Allen, Diane Keaton and Tony Roberts and also features smaller roles from some big-name actors early in their career, like Jeff Goldblum playing a party guest, as well as Shelley Duvall and Christopher Walken.

This is a unique film as it’s the only Jeff Goldblum romantic comedy that ranks in his top 10. While it’s definitely not the only romance film of the actor’s career, it’s not a genre he tends to frequently visit.

2 The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) – 8.1

The Grand Budapest Hotel is an adventure comedy about a man’s early years serving as a lobby boy in the incredible hotel’s early years under an exceptional concierge. This is writer/director Wes Anderson’s second collaboration with Jeff Goldblum, and what many fans consider to be the best.

The Grand Budapest Hotel is considered one of Wes Anderson’s greatest films and a masterpiece by many of his fans and critics, who praise the incredibly colored and detailed backgrounds and scenes as well as intricate characters. The film also has an incredible cast including Ralph Fiennes, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, and Bill Murray.

1 Jurassic Park (1993) – 8.1

Jurassic Park is a classic action/adventure sci-fi film about a paleontologist being tasked with protecting two kids on an island off central America after a power failure has allowed the cloned dinosaurs on the island to run free. The film is directed and produced by Steven Spielberg and its success went on to launch an entire franchise.

It’s definitely one of Goldblum’s best films and one he is remembered for the most due to its many iconic scenes. Jurassic Park co-stars Sam Neil, Laura Dern, and Sir Richard Attenborough and fans can’t wait to see Goldblum, Dern, and Neil reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel.
