From light-hearted, humorous films like Someone Great, to the emotional rollercoaster of Irreplaceable You, and adding in top-notch teen comedies like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, there’s something for every rom-com fan.

7 When We First Met (2018) – 6.4

This so-bad-it’s-good romantic comedy has a time loop plot that’s been made more popular through classical films like Groundhog Day. Though not as popular as Bill Murray’s famous role, this film is a great casual watch for those that enjoy a laughable plot about someone trying to re-do their past.

It follows a man who is in love with his best friend, though he never shared his feelings with her. Now that she’s getting married, he thinks he’s missed his shot. However, he unexpectedly travels back in time to the night they met, getting the chance to change the future.

6 Set It Up (2018) – 6.5

This Netflix Original follows two exhausted, overworked executive assistants who hatch a plan to set up their two bosses who are far more work than play.

This movie is a great option for viewers who like to see things not go at all according to plans. Though the two bosses get engaged, it’s due to the manipulation of the assistants fabricating essentially every romantic interaction in their relationship. Everything has changed by the end of the story, but there’s a satisfying resolution to each of the characters’ stories.

5 Tallulah (2016) – 6.7

Tallulah follows the story of a wayward woman who ends up taking a baby from an inattentive mother, who mistakes her for housekeeping at the hotel she’s staying. Tallulah goes to her ex’s mother’s house, not knowing what to do next now that she has the child, and claims it’s the woman’s grandchild.

4 Always Be My Maybe (2019) – 6.8

One of the lesser-known romantic comedies on Netflix, this film follows two childhood sweethearts that reconnect after being apart for 15 years. After being dumped by her fiance, Sasha (Ali Wong) gives the connection she still has with Marcus (Randall Parker) a chance.

This movie is a cutesy tale about the connection of two people that had a heartwarming childhood relationship, enticing an audience that loves the pulls-of-the-past plotlines. It’s also a great watch for those that enjoy stories that join two people from different worlds.

3 To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (2018) – 7.1

This film is one of the cutest teen rom-coms on Netflix and was so popular that it was turned into a trilogy. In this adorable movie, a girl’s secret love letters to boys that she’s had crushes on in the past get sent out to them.

While the film includes a fake relationship to benefit both of the main characters, which is a bit overused in romantic comedies, the unique personalities and budding friendship turned loved interest storyline make for great, lighthearted entertainment.

2 Silver Linings Playbook (2012) – 7.7

This story follows Pat (Bradley Cooper) who recently got out of a mental institution, and who recently lost his job and wife, causing him to have to live with his parents. Reaching his lowest point, Pat attempts to get his wife back with the help of Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), who he assists in exchange.

There are some great movies like Silver Linings Playbook, but this one is unique in the way it weaves a plotline of getting one’s life together while also trying to cope with mental illness. It’s an ideal watch for audiences that need some humor to mild the seriousness of a situation.

1 About Time (2013) – 7.8

From the creators of Love Actually, this is a sci-fi rom-com is about a young man, Tim (Domhnall Gleeson) who learns he can travel back in time.
