Thelonious Jaha was not an easy man to like. Although he may have appeared the lesser of two evils between him and Kane back in season one, Jaha became worse as time wore on. Jaha lived his life for his people, trying to save and help them in any way he could. However, many of his actions hurt more than they helped. Jaha’s actions, whether helpful or hurtful, certainly left an impact on the overall story.

Between the Ark and living in the bunker, Jaha had gone through several power struggles and understanding that he was no longer looked at as being in charge. Throughout his life, Jaha made plenty of mistakes, but there were times when he also did good things too.

10 Best: Pardoned Bellamy

To join the Dropship to Earth, Bellamy had to kill Chancellor Jaha. By the time Kane had determined his identity, Bellamy was already with the hundred on the ground. Bellamy’s actions in the early days of the series came from fear of the Ark following them to the ground and executing Bellamy for shooting Jaha.

When Clarke speaks on Bellamy’s behalf, convincing Jaha to pardon Bellamy as well, Jaha decides against it until Bellamy offers to give Jaha the name of the person who wanted Jaha dead.

9 Worst: Sent 100 Delinquents To The Ground

As the hundred are hurtling toward Earth, it is Jaha’s face on the large screen. Jaha calls the delinquents expendable for the journey, which is a comment the hundred are immediately unhappy about. The Ark was running low on oxygen, and he needed a solution to help conserve air for the remainder of the Ark. But, if Jaha truly believed that Earth was a viable option, he should have sent adults to survey the area.

Instead, although he and Abby may claim they sent the kids down to live, the hundred repeatedly reminds them that Jaha had sent them to die.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

8 Best: Second Dawn Bunker

Praimfaya is approaching, and everyone needs to find a resolution quickly. Between searching for shelter and a possible Nightblood solution, several characters are split, doing various tasks to survive the death wave. One of Jaha’s grand ideas comes from a video featuring the doomsday cult leader, Bill Cadogan, predicting the end of the world.

Cadogan mentions a bunker that would allow hundreds to survive, and Jaha jumps at the opportunity. Although his first adventure to a bunker fails, the second search discovers the Second Dawn Bunker, which would later become home for Wonkru.

7 Worst: Floated Several Citizens

One of the reasons the delinquents hated Wells was because his father had determined many of their parents be floated. Jaha participated in the deaths of nearly every main character’s parents that were floated on the Ark.

Jaha reasoned that it was for his people, but it was his actions as a leader that made Clarke and Bellamy determine that every life mattered on the ground.

6 Best: Sacrificed Himself

The trip to the ground would not be simple, and all the Ark’s citizens knew that as they prepared to leave space. But, when Sinclair could not remotely separate the ships, Jaha decides to stay behind and allow the rest of his people to make an attempt to the ground.

While Jaha eventually made it to Earth as well, Kane, Abby, and the survivors from the Ark took Jaha’s sacrifice to heart and named their camp after him, referring to it as Camp Jaha.

5 Worst: Sacrificed His Followers

Jaha’s journey to the City of Light is one of the most challenging storylines of season two. Rather than ally with the Grounders, Jaha wants to move everyone from their settlement to a place he has only heard rumors about.

Along for the ride is John Murphy, who sticks closely to Jaha’s side during the expedition. But, Jaha shows his worst traits when he is willing to sacrifice nearly all of those who came with him to reach the City of Light. Jaha and Murphy are the only two that survive the adventure.

4 Best: Helped Octavia

For a majority of her time on the ground, Octavia was a warrior, not a leader. When her position as Osleya makes Octavia in charge, she is unsure how to hold the role. Although Indra and Kane try to help, Octavia does not see how to gain control of Wonkru until after a conversation with Jaha.

Their talk influences Octavia to take control of her people and have them understand that they are either Wonkru or the enemy of Wonkru.

3 Worst: Rallied To Take The Bunker

Although it may have been Clarke’s idea to steal the bunker after Luna claimed to win the Conclave to ensure the death of the entire human race, Jaha makes things worse. Clarke and Bellamy leave to rescue Raven, leaving Jaha and Kane in charge of determining who of Skaikru will survive.

But, Jaha wishes for Skaikru to keep the bunker to themselves. Octavia’s ultimatum and Kane’s wish to keep the peace and allow some of their people to survive change Jaha’s mind.

2 Best: Preparing For Praimfaya

After causing the most significant problems throughout season three, Jaha tries to be helpful in season four. His engineering background allows him to help Raven patch up the Ark for Praimfaya.

He stands with Clarke to help calm down the growing crowd after they discover her list of one-hundred names. Jaha searches for a way for as many people to survive the death wave as possible, finding the Second Dawn Bunker.

1 Worst: City Of Light

Jaha’s actions during his strive to reach the City of Light are horrifying, but Jaha only gets worse after meeting A.L.I.E. He takes the chip and allows her access to his mind. A.L.I.E’s influence over Jaha is exponential.

She has him hand out the chip to as many people as possible to get them to the City of Light. Jaha also suggests a way to remove free will and insists on everyone joining him. He even threatens people’s lives if they do not take the chip. Jaha’s actions cause several to die.
