Octavia may have had one of the best character arcs on The 100, especially for someone who wasn’t supposed to exist. She was the first Delinquent to step foot on Earth, and her development only grew from there. Octavia slowly became a warrior capable of fighting numerous opponents at a time. She was one of the most significant warriors while also having some of the most power of any of the main characters.

Throughout the series, Octavia was an epic character, constantly being reinvented each season. While her arc was consistent and able to follow, she also had some of the biggest ups and downs of anyone. She was the only member of Skaikru that really existed in the realms of both Skaikru and Grounder lifestyles. Plenty of Octavia’s transformation had something to do with her search for an identity.

7 Girl Under The Floor

Octavia had spent her life hidden from society. As an illegal second child, Octavia was not allowed to exist and thus only knew the confines of her family’s apartment. When Octavia was discovered, everything changed. Her mother was floated, Bellamy was removed from his guard job, and Octavia was sent to the SkyBox, arrested for existing.

Later on, Octavia was one of the hundred Delinquents sent to the ground. She spent most of the first season rebelling against Bellamy, wanting to live freely. Octavia’s relationship with Lincoln gave her compassion for Grounders that the others couldn’t understand yet.

6 Indra’s Second

Octavia stepped up in the second season, becoming one of the most integral pieces of the alliance between Skaikru and the Grounders. She stepped forward, eager to learn fighting skills from Indra. Season two is the beginning of when it becomes clear that Octavia is coming into her own.

Throughout the second season, Octavia became more invested in fighting and the Grounder lifestyle. She began to feel more at home with them than she had with those from the Ark. Although Octavia lost the title of Indra’s Second, the two would continue to be deeply connected.

5 Assassin

Octavia continues growing her skills after the rescue mission at Mount Weather. However, sadly, one of Octavia’s biggest changes occurs after Lincoln’s death. Lincoln had meant so much to Octavia and had helped shape her identity. Losing Lincoln was Octavia’s biggest loss, at least on Earth. After his death, Octavia spiraled, going down a dark path of destruction and vengeance.

After Lincoln’s death, Octavia avenged him by killing Pike. Octavia worked as an assassin to keep Roan safe while the others searched for surviving Praimfaya. Her anger would be a driving force leading up to the final days before the death wave.

4 Solitude And Osleya

Unable to kill Ilian like Pike had murdered Lincoln, Octavia ran away from Arkadia. When Ilian found her later, the duo traveled together to farmland and spent time away from everyone else. The solitude allowed Octavia time to think for herself away from prying eyes and expectations. After hearing about the upcoming Conclave, Octavia returned to Polis to participate as Skaikru’s volunteer.

When Octavia won the Conclave, she opened the doors to members of every clan, showing that they would be one, rather than only allowing Skaikru to survive. When the door finally shut for the death wave, Octavia was in charge of the bunker. She was not prepared for the intensity of what would occur, which would lead to the next massive change.

3 Blodreina

To keep as many as she could alive, Octavia went to extreme lengths. She gave them a reason to follow her: fear that she would kill them if they wouldn’t accept Octavia, she would kill them. Octavia used the fighting pits as a way to dispute arguments. Whoever was the last standing got another chance. When things took a turn for the worst during the Dark Year, whoever died would become the rest of the bunker’s next meal. Although Octavia was desperate for another way, she knew she had to keep Wonkru alive.

After being let out of the bunker, Octavia kept up the Blodreina persona, determined to get her people to Eden at any cost, even going as far as destroying the hydro farm Monty had just fixed.

2 Redemption

Octavia spends the sixth season on a side quest with Diyoza after Bellamy sends her away from Sanctum. Yet, that journey does some great things for Octavia. After following Diyoza into the Anomaly and promptly returning seconds later, Octavia and Gabriel suggest that she had actually been gone far longer but was unable to remember it.

Still, Octavia’s return let her know that what she really wanted was redemption. Looking within gave Octavia the chance to grasp that she was ready to move forward. When given the opportunity later, Octavia advocated for saving as many innocent lives as possible.

1 Peace And Savior

Octavia’s final season arc is a whirlwind. It early established Octavia had spent years on Skyring before being taken to Bardo. On Skyring, Octavia experienced peace with Diyoza and Hope as the only three people there. Understanding peace helped Octavia grow and helped her know how to handle things later. In the end, it wasn’t Clarke and Bellamy that saved the day; it was Octavia.

Octavia’s speech to the remaining human race encouraged peace and putting weapons down, knowing that a war was the worst way to preserve humanity. Octavia took her knowledge of Blodreina and peace, allowing her a solid grasp of two vastly different extremes. Octavia understood what it meant to fight, but she also knew when it was best to put weapons down.
