The 100 season 7 full trailer has arrived, teasing an epic conclusion to the post-apocalyptic drama series. Making its debut on The CW in 2014, The 100 is loosely based on the book series of the same name by Kass Morgan. It focuses on criminal adolescents who are among the first to return to Earth after a nuclear disaster devastated much of the planet. The adolescents struggle to adjust to their new surroundings, stumbling in their efforts to form a new community. The group soon discovers that they’re not alone, quickly understanding that they must band together against survivors of the nuclear disaster who are not exactly welcoming.

The drama has evolved from that point, with a heightened and often propulsive narrative which has helped to facilitate the arrival and departure of many characters. Back in August of last year, showrunner Jason Rothenberg announced that The 100 would be ending with season 7. Rothenberg described the popular sci-fi series, at the time, as an incredible ride. But the ride isn’t over quite yet, since The 100 has several questions that remained unanswered. Perhaps the biggest question revolves around what the final episodes will look like, and whether the story choices will be satisfying to the show’s devoted fanbase.

Now, with The CW releasing the full trailer for The 100 season 7, viewers can have a peek into the chaos that is about to unfold when The 100 returns for its last season on May 20. The series has always been kinetic, with notable rivalries playing out and well-liked minor characters popping up to move the plot forward when needed. For its final outing, The 100 looks to maintain that same energy. Check out the trailer for yourself below.

When the series ends, after a season that will consist of 16 episodes, The 100 is still planned to have a presence on The CW. It was reported in October that Rothenberg was working on a prequel that would also air on the network. Focusing on events that took place 97 years before the original series, the prequel will begin with the nuclear apocalypse that wiped out almost all life on Earth.

The 100 prequel will factor into the upcoming season as a backdoor pilot, giving audiences a chance to decide if the spin-off shows potential. However, it’s likely more important for those who have watched the adaptation of Morgan’s books since the beginning that protagonists such as Clarke Griffin and Bellamy Blake receive fitting farewells. With season 7 of The 100 kicking off in a matter of weeks, fans won’t have long to wait before seeing how it all shakes out.
