The third season of The Circle brought an interesting new cast of characters into the game. It also offered some exciting new twists. Season 2 had a few twists compared to the inaugural season, including many new things fans loved about The Circle season 2. But season 3 took things to a new level.

With the final episode of season 3 already being made available on Netflix and a winner crowned, it was an interesting journey to get to that point. The twists and turns were aplenty and allowed for some truly juicy, hilarious, and strategic moments.

8 The Player Clone

The first twist that shocked viewers was that player clone. After Ava and Chanel, playing together as Ava, became the first people to be eliminated, they got a second chance in the game. They could clone any player’s profile and pretend to be them, trying to convince others that they were the real deal.

They chose poor, unsuspecting Southern mom Michelle in one of the best strategic moves made in The Circle season 3 and proceeded to have everyone second-guessing if Michelle was truly Michelle. In the end, they actually convinced others they were the real deal and the actual Michelle got sent home.

7 People Catfishing As Themselves

Rather than go into the game pretending to be someone completely different, a few players this season decided to be altered versions of themselves.

James, for example, pretended to be single even though he was in a committed 12-year relationship. The reason he did this, a strategy approved by his long-time girlfriend, was so he could leave the door open for flirting with other players. It worked, as he managed to enjoy an innocent flirtation with new player Jacki and get her on his side, and he was consistently ranked among the most popular players.

6 Burner Profile

One of the most exciting twists from the series was the burner profile, which allowed Nick to take on the persona of a ghost hunter named Vince for a short period of time in order to try and secretly get information from other players. He handled the shift flawlessly, even using different rooms to speak to people as himself and Vince in the same conversations, wearing a cape whenever he was “Vince.”

While the profile could have been used to accomplish so much more, it did help Nick gain some favor with others and showed off his strategic side.

5 LGBTQ Players Pretending To Be Straight

There have been a few LGBTQ players in past seasons, sometimes catfishing as someone else, but often catfishing as another LGBTQ person. One such example is Lee from season 2, who, was among the best catfish on The Circle, who played as River, a much younger, but also LGBTQ, man. In this season, there was also Matthew, who is gay, playing as his friend Ashley, who is a lesbian.

But in a unique twist this season, Sophia not only came into the game to play her older, more conventionally attractive sister, she also pretended to be straight. Seeing Sophia shudder every time she had to flirt with a boy was hilarious, though it worked as she managed to convince Nick to fall for her.

4 Players Hiding Intelligence

Like in many other reality shows, players sometimes like to hide their real occupation for fear that it could put a target on their backs if the job suggests a high level of intelligence. First impressions are important on The Circle, after all. In this season of The Circle, Nick said he was a drummer even though he actually works in management at a tech company.

It went over well with others, as they believed he was who he said he was, even calling their alliance The Band. Had players known that Nick was a business professional instead of a musician, they might have treated him differently making this twist one that worked to his advantage.

3 The Clear Alliance Divide

Never in a season has there been such a clear divide among players in rival alliances. In the case of this season, there was a line right down the middle between Nick’s alliance and Kai’s alliance. The ratings were often predictable because of this, as everyone on one side ranked Nick high and everyone on the other ranked Kai or James high.

However, it did make for interesting influencer conversations, since one person had to concede and allow for one of their own alliance members to go home each time. Interestingly, while James conceded both times, he still ended up winning the game.

2 Two Blockings In One, No Collaboration

It was nice to see both Nick and Daniel receive influencer status, but the joy was quickly squashed when they learned that they would not get to talk to one another to decide together who to send home. Instead, in a last-minute twist, each had to immediately make a decision on their own, with two people going home.

Nick may have made a critical mistake by not sending Kai home in this instance, choosing to send Ruksana, Kai’s closest ally, instead. Meanwhile, Daniel shocked everyone when he took out one of the rival alliance’s strongest members, Calvin. Fans thought Calvin was one of the players from The Circle who didn’t deserve to be blocked.

1 Secret Influencers

The very last twist was a funny one, as the final two influencers met as usual to discuss who to send home. However, their identities were never revealed to the other players or to one another. Instead, they had to chat as Player A and Player B.

Both Nick and James did a great job at trying to speak as robotically as they could without giving away who they were via tone, use of emojis, or writing style. Each had inklings that it was the other person they were speaking to based on what they were saying, but this allowed them to make a decision without knowing who would be making it with them.
