A new image for the upcoming film The Addams Family 2 shows America’s favorite spooky and kooky family hit the beach on their big vacation. The sequel to the 2019 animated Addams Family film is set to premiere in theaters and for video-on-demand services on October 1. The first few trailers show the family leaving their haunted mansion for some good old family fun on a road trip of nightmares. As always, things are sure to not go as planned for the family.

The second Addams Family film will feature Morticia and Gomez, voiced by Charlize Theron and Oscar Isaac, in distress as their children grow up and grow apart from them. They’re apparently totally consumed with a little too much “scream time” that’s cutting into their bonding time with their parents. The couple decides that the cure is to cram their kids, Uncle Fester (voiced by Nick Kroll), and the rest of the crew into a haunted camper for what’s sure to be a woeful vacation. They run into Cousin Itt and a few new kooky faces on the journey of a lifetime.

Now, Fandango has released its Fall movie preview that gives a new look at another location the Addams crew will make a pit stop at. In the Addams Family 2 trailers, they’re seen hitting iconic national landmarks like Niagara Falls and the Grand Canyon. But it looks as though they’ll be hitting the beach as well — wearing all black from head to toe, of course. Check out the new image from The Addams Family 2 below:

The beach shot shows Morticia, Gomez, Wednesday (voiced by Chloë Grace Moretz), Pugsley (voiced by Javon Walton), Uncle Fester and Lurch hanging on a tropical beach in their best funeral attire. Uncle Fester is the only one seemingly in a bathing suit, and also donning a goofy umbrella hat. Clearly, they look like they don’t belong, but even a dark family like the Addams gang needs a day at the beach once in a while.

While the first animated Addams Family film got mixed reviews from critics, it succeed in being a light-hearted approach to the typically dark story. And while it’s a stray from the original Addams Family films and cartoons that featured macabre humor, it’s definitely more suitable for young kids. Based on the trailers, it looks like The Addams Family 2 is taking the same approach — bringing some family-friendly fun to the big screen to get audiences in the Halloween spirit.
