The Ascent is a cyberpunk cooperative shooter where players embark on a journey through a colossal Arcology on the planet Veles. As a bottom-tier mercenary earning their way up the ladder in The Ascent Group, players will encounter humans and aliens decked out in robotics and other futuristic items. Lore, characters, weapons, armor, and abilities all contribute to this narrative in unique ways, creating a mix of high-octane combat and a deep, engaging narrative. But, once players beat the game, there’s still more to find and pillage around the Arcology on Veles.

Players accustomed to RPGs might expect a New Game+ mode in The Ascent. However, the game does things a little differently by omitting the option to restart on the same saved character. New Game+ is essentially a full game redo that allows players to take some of the levels, items, weapon upgrades, and cosmetics from their first playthrough to the next. While The Ascent does not have a New Game+ mode in the traditional sense, it still has endgame activities that players can run through until they’re satisfied. Here are some of the best things to do after finishing The Ascent.

The Best Things to Do After Finishing The Ascent

Once the end credits for The Ascent conclude, players are transported back to Cluster 13, the first major area of the game. From here, players can take a cab or train to fast travel anywhere in the game they’ve already been before. All story-related missions are gone, but side missions will continue to show up on the map, so players don’t need to finish them all before completing the main campaign. In fact, newer side missions appear so players can pick up as many as they want after they complete the story.

Characters will continue to level up until reaching max level after the main campaign, provided players haven’t already reached that point. The features that players keep on their character following the endgame are:

  • Character abilities and Augmentations
  • Armor and weapons earned
  • Skill points earned and allotted
  • Lore and Collectibles
  • UCRED Balance

Open side quests do not disappear at the end of the game, and the world is continuously replenished with new ones until a certain point. Chests opened and items discovered also do not go away, so finding a better Hacking Deck to open some of those areas previously inaccessible is also possible. Vendors will also continue to refresh their stock with more powerful items, so players can visit and get new, powerful gear. The best thing to do after beating The Ascent is to freely explore the world and find anything missed until there’s absolutely nothing left.

The Ascent is available on Xbox and PC.
