In one important scene, she and Kristy go to a snobby neighbor’s house for tea, and Elizabeth teaches Kristy that it’s better to be kind and compassionate than materialistic. Elizabeth isn’t comfortable living in Watson’s fancy neighborhood and wants her kids to stay true to themselves. Elizabeth is also one of the smartest characters on the show when she dreams of having a baby with Watson but tells Kristy that it might not happen and they have to be realistic and live each day as it comes.

8 Claudia Kishi

Claudia is a beloved character thanks to her loving relationship with her grandmother Mimi, her colorful patterns, and her love of painting, candy, and having fun. She’s also smart and totally secure with who she is.

In season 1, Claudia does her best to believe in herself despite her falling grades, and she seems even more intelligent in the next batch of episodes. Whether taking care of a baby, apologizing to Mallory for being judgemental, or realizing that she should make an effort with her older sister, Claudia makes many smart decisions over season 2 of the series.

7 Mary Anne Spier

Mary Anne’s brave storylines stand out since at first, she’s too scared to talk to her crush Logan or speak up at club meetings. Mary Anne emerges in season 2 as a brave, mature person, especially when she lives with Dawn for a week and faces her fear of the secret tunnel in Dawn’s bedroom.

Mary Anne shows fans that she’s incredibly smart when she realizes she’s not yet ready to be in a relationship with Logan. She lets him know that they should stay friends and see what happens. It’s inspiring that she can look beyond her friends’ expectations and do what feels right.

6 Jessi Ramsey

Fans of The Baby-Sitters Club book series remember Jessi as a talented ballerina and it’s fun getting to know this character on the series as well. Jessie starts off season 2 nervous about her fancy new ballet school, wondering if it’s worth continuing to pursue dance if she’s not the best.

Jessie is super intelligent as she learns that loving dance is what truly matters and viewers love watching her let go of any pressure, expectations, and worry. This is definitely a lesson that everyone can learn about their own passion.

5 Stacey McGill

The other characters love meeting Stacey when she’s new in town, as she’s cool, sophisticated, and stylish thanks to living in New York City for years. Stacey is also a big fan of Math, organization, and in season 2, she learns an important lesson about living with Diabetes.

When Stacey is on the cover of a magazine and asked to make a speech at a charity gala, she’s also struggling with her blood sugar levels, and she says she feels like a “phony” because she’s not 100 percent better. After talking to her doctor, Stacey comes to a mature, smart realization: she can appreciate what her Diabetes has taught her while acknowledging that it’s tough sometimes.

4 Ashley Wyeth

The Baby-Sitters Club discusses important topics, and in season 2, the character of Ashley Wyeth allows the series to talk about what being “cool” means.

Claudia is in awe of Janine’s girlfriend Ashley, a fashionable older girl who is also popular on social media. Ashley shows Claudia that Janine is a brilliant person with interesting things to say, which helps Claudia realize that she’s been too mean to her sibling. Ashley is calm, perceptive, and friendly, and she sets a great example for Claudia and her friends.

3 Kristy Thomas

Kristy runs the club perfectly, from setting up a system for paying dues to asking Dawn to step in when she has step throat and has to stay in bed for a week. She’s a great leader as she truly listens to everyone and makes sure that they’re happy.

Kristy shows viewers that she’s even smarter in the season 2 premiere episode “Kristy and the Snobs” when she tells herself to be confident and act like she belongs in her well-heeled new neighborhood. Kristy balances remembering who she is with getting used to her new world, and that’s a smart thing to do.

2 Janine Kishi

Claudia’s older sister Janine is one of the best minor The Baby-Sitters Club characters and she’s incredibly brilliant. She loves science and spends hours in her room researching, and it’s sweet to see her bond with Ashley.

Whether talking about the causes that are important to her or suggesting that the club donates money to charity each month, Dawn is one of the smartest people in Stoneybrook.

Dawn is also a people pleaser who can be too accommodating, and when she loses sleep over several nights when Mary Anne gets scared when sleeping over, Dawn realizes that she can be more assertive while still being kind. It’s always smart when someone figures out how to balance their personality with the needs of others, and Dawn sets a great example for the club.
