With every new season of The Bachelorette come hundreds of incredible memes that make it seem as if the TV show and the internet phenomenon go hand in hand. The show could be paused at any frame of a two-hour episode and it would be memeable. From the drama to the ridiculous group dates to the haphazard entrances, there’s too much unbelievable content to meme.

As recent seasons of The Bachelorette were some of the most shocking yet, with tons of twists and turns, the memes show no sign of slowing down any time soon.

Updated Oct. 4, 2021 by Paul Ciampanelli: The Bachelorette and indeed the entire Bachelor franchise are just as popular as ever, and so are the memes. With a new season under its belt, its no surprise that Bachelorette memes continue to surge online among the show’s various fan communities and social media followings.

This Is The Bachelorette

It’s hard to explain why, but there’s something about a gaggle of men together that seems to dampen their charisma. The gender reversal of The Bachelorette makes its male contestants seem collectively goofy in a way that doesn’t happen with the women on The Bachelor.

This meme illustrates the phenomenon by extrapolating it out to literally cartoonish levels. If each season’s Bachelorette is Jessica Rabbit, an icon of almost absurdly tuned-up femininity and sexuality, the group of men competing for her affection often come off as a bunch of awkward dweebs by comparison.

Hannah Loves Garbage

Bachelorette fans love to hate Luke P., a contestant from season 15 who built a reputation as an aggressive and manipulative liar. Yet the Bachelorette of the season, Hannah Brown, frustrated fans by keeping Luke P. around week after week.

This meme is hilarious to viewers because it seeks to redeem what they see as Hannah’s terrible choices by making them more deliberate. It reframes her as analogous to April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation, who loves chaos — and garbage — and doesn’t care who knows. If only Hannah had been this self-aware.

Katie Reminds Mike P. Of His Mom

If a new Bachelorette viewers asks devoted fans what the creepiest moment in the show’s history is, more than a few will probably say it was when Mike P. said Katie reminded him of his mom. At first, fans were heartened to see the show treat Mike, a virgin, with a modicum of respect. But things got weird. During a date, Mike said, ““Things are awkward, but Katie’s very calming. She’s a nurturer. And man, do I love nurturers. She reminds me of my mom.”

This comment set the Bachelorette fandom on fire, and it reminded one meme-crafter of the adversarial relationship between Captain Picard and Q from the Star Trek franchise. Perhaps it’s not the first analogy that came to most fans’ minds, but for the probably small Venn diagram intersection of Bachelor and Trek fans, this meme feels perfect.

Luke P. Is Not The One

Here’s another great Bachelorette meme about Hannah from season 15 and her ongoing relationship with the hated Luke P. Talk of Hannah and Luke P. so dominated the conversation around this season that fans can be forgiven if they forgot that he came in only fourth place after being eliminated in week 9. It really was the story of the season that Hannah seemed intent on ignoring constant red flags along the way, as illustrated in this familiar SpongeBob meme.

Bachelorette Guy Starter Pack

Lots of fans watch The Bachelorette with a healthy side of irony. They know there’s a strong formula that season after season maintains. Like fast-casual dining, it’s the comforting sameness that keeps people coming back. A Bachelorette viewer always knows what they’re going to get.

That’s why it’s so easy to break down the group of guys on every season of the show into the familiar parts of their basic whole. From their hairstyles to their body types to their prescribed personalities, it seems like every man on The Bachelorette comes from the same starter pack.

Embodying 2020

Of all the things that happened in 2020, Bachelor Nation thought that Clare’s engagement to Dale on The Bachelor was the most chaotic of the whole year.

And though that might be a bit of a stretch, Clare’s episodes were a complete mess, and there’s no clearer metaphor for that than Jay, who literally wore a straight jacket for several hours. But what was even more amazing about Jay is that he was actually awarded a rose and passed the first night.

Getting Engaged After One Month

The Bachelor shows may have been about a bunch of 20-somethings finding love in their earlier seasons, but with the increasing use of social media and the idea of an Instagram influencer being a genuine occupation, it’s no secret that many of the contestants on the show are there for one thing only: fame.

Many members of Bachelor Nation have accused Dale of that very thing, but as he seemingly fell into having to propose to Clare, one memer has hilariously snapped a screenshot that surely represents Dale’s real feelings.

Bennett’s True Self

There were quickly a lot of Twitter reactions to Bennett on The Bachelorette, as in the earlier episodes he became an instant fan favorite. Almost channeling John Paul Jones from the season beforehand, Bennett was posh and incredibly well-spoken, which hilariously contrasted with his flare and jokester persona.

However, that quickly changed when he started to show his true colors, being condescending to Noah and totally manipulating Tayshia.

The Better Bachelorette

There were a lot of reactions to Tayshia replacing Clare on The Bachelorette, and nobody really knew what was going on, as some people were accusing ABC of planning the replacement from the beginning, whereas others were blaming Clare for being a bad bachelorette.

But after Clare treated the contestants terribly and only cared about seeing Dale, Tayshia became the new bachelorette and completely eradicated any kind of drama whatsoever. The show hadn’t been this clean and free of drama in years, and Tayshia quickly became a fan favorite.

The Bromance

It was clear early on in the season that the contestants were more interested in each other than they were in Clare. The best romance that came out of the season was arguably Brendan and Joe, as they can often be found spending the most time together and even squeezing each others’ legs.

And it wasn’t just Brendan and Joe, as at one point, the rest of the guys were completely ignoring Clare and instead talking and laughing among themselves.

Dale’s Mistake

With it being up in the air over whether or not Dale’s love for Clare was real, fans speculated about whether Dale would re-enter the show to compete for Tayshia’s love, and brought this classic meme back into the fold.

As Tayshia was more professional and much more mature than Clare despite their significant age difference, and considering how superficial Dale had seemed, it could very well be that he was second-guessing himself.

Bennett’s Limousine Spelling

As Bennett never ever let anybody forget that he studied law at Harvard University, his struggle to spell “limousine” left everybody in stitches.

Had he not made such a big deal about his education at every chance he got, people wouldn’t have made such a big deal about his spelling error. But his problems didn’t end with spelling, as he stumbled over several mathematical questions too.

Ben’s Doppelgänger

With the NBC show being off the charts popular, it didn’t take fans long to notice the resemblance between Ben and The Office star B.J. Novak. The resemblance is uncanny, and if Novak started hitting the gym, they’d almost look like twins.

Novak’s co-star and best friend Mindy Kaling has even reacted to the meme, saying, “Sorry, I’m team temp on this one,” referring to Novak’s character in The Office.

Bennett And Noah Locking Horns

Bennett often spok to Noah like he was a child, and it was arguably the catalyst for why the two so often locked horns. But the biggest collision of them all was when Tayshia sat the two down so they could talk it out.

Bennett brought Noah a gift, though it was more of a slap in the face than anything else, as it was a book on emotional intelligence. Bennett pressed on to tell Noah that there are four components of emotional intelligence, then infamously told him that he is deficient in three of the four. It sounds like a lecture from an overbearing boss that many viewers surely had heard before.

Yonset’s Confrontation

During what can only be described as Dodgeballgate, what Yosef had to say about the group date was so controversial that there has been not just one, but a ton of hilarious reactions to Yosef’s outburt on The Bachelorette.

Many people agreed with him, but they didn’t agree with the way in which he said it. For starters, he wasn’t even on the date in the first place, and secondly, he treated Clare terribly, which has led to him becoming one of The Bachelorette’s most infamous villains.
