Smith appeared on The Bachelorette season 17, where he competed for the heart of 30-year-old lead Katie Thurston. However, Smith immediately caused friction amongst his fellow contestants after he accused multiple men in the house of being on the show for the wrong reasons. After refusing to provide specific evidence to back up his claims, the rest of the contestants banded together to ask Thurston to eliminate Smith. He was ultimately not given a rose at the second rose ceremony of the season.

Smith made a big splash during his short time on the show, but he didn’t get a chance to explain his unique career. He is a motivational speaker and the founder of Next Level Success, which provides business development seminars and personal coaching to aspiring entrepreneurs. He also hosts networking events where business owners can mix and mingle. Depending on the speaker, a two-hour keynote speech costs between $2,500 and $10,000. Personalized coaching begins at $400 per month. Since its founding, Next Level Success has expanded to employ additional coaches. According to Smith’s website, the 34-year-old has over 15 years of experience in the business world.

Smith also posts motivational tips and excerpts from his speeches on Instagram. He emphasizes the power of positive thinking and believes that the right mindset will help overcome any challenge, including lack of funding and other logistical problems. Smith also advises aspiring entrepreneurs to identify role models in their chosen field. “Motivate yourself no matter what! A setback is a setup for a comeback! Entrepreneurship isn’t for the weak,” he wrote on Instagram.

Some fans and fellow contestants alike have raised concerns that Smith applied to go on The Bachelorette solely to promote his business and raise his profile as a public figure. Since his casting was announced, Smith has been promoting his appearance on The Bachelorette on his Instagram page. But although his elimination was dramatic, Smith has no hard feelings towards Thurston. “I feel Katie did the best she could with all the facts she was given. Can’t be mad at her. She’s an amazing woman, and I have no regrets,” he wrote in response to a fan.

Now that Smith has been eliminated from The Bachelorette, a new villain has emerged in the form of Thomas Jacobs. Jacobs admitted on episode 3 that he had come on the show to gain exposure and potentially become the next Bachelor. Even though Karl Smith will surely be missed on The Bachelorette, it seems that season 17 will have no shortage of drama.
