Following the success of Frozen and Frozen II, the scene-stealing Olaf has been the star of several animated shorts and now leads the new Disney+ original short series Olaf Presents in which he, Marshmallow, Sven, and the Snowgies offer fast-paced comedic recaps of beloved Disney movies.

The series is a great use of Olaf’s comedic abilities as he takes jabs at and points out the issues with some of Disney’s most famous stories. Whether he is highlighting the painfulness of Mufasa’s death in his version of The Lion King or singing “Part of Your World” as Ariel in a retelling of The Little Mermaid, Olaf hilariously brings some great Disney stories to life in a way that only he can.

7 Honorable Mention: Frozen

The genesis for the concept of Olaf Presents comes from one of the funniest scenes in Frozen II. In the scene, Olaf recounts the events of the first Frozen film for an audience of people who were not present to witness the story. He provides more narration than he does in Olaf Presents, but he also does a fair share of acting, taking on multiple roles and acting out all of the major moments from the movie in a dramatic fashion, delivering some of his best lines in the Frozen sequel in the process.

While this bit is not part of Olaf Presents, it is the reason the series exists. The location where Olaf acts out the events of Frozen also serves as the backdrop for Olaf Presents as well.

6 Honorable Mention: Frozen II

In one of the funniest post-credit scenes ever, Frozen II ends with Olaf revisiting the bit from earlier in which he reenacts the movie’s events, this time telling the story of Frozen II to an enthusiastic crowd comprised of Marshmallow and the Snowgies.

For an animated kids movie, Frozen II has several notable dark moments and Olaf perfectly lampoons this intensity by highlighting the fake-out of Elsa and Olaf’s deaths and Anna’s heartbroken reaction. Olaf then mentions that he forgot what else happened and skips to the happy ending. The scene is one of the best moments in the movie and the self-aware joke is a great and satisfying end to the film. It is not part of Olaf Presents, but it proved that Olaf retelling the events of a movie could be more than a one-off gag.

5 Moana

In the second episode of the series, Olaf presents the story of Moana, beginning with him playing baby Moana and discovering the ocean is calling him. Olaf gets an assist from Marshmallow, who plays Te Kā, and the Snowgies, who are perfectly cast as the Kakamora. He belts out a couple of notes from songs from the movie, including a humorous introduction for the inspirational song “I Am Moana.”

Being a malleable snowman, he is able to perfectly recreate Maui’s shapeshifting abilities, taking on the form of different animals. Perhaps the funniest joke in the episode comes as he impersonates Heihei by spinning his eyes in different directions, pecking at the raft, and squawking wildly.

4 Aladdin

In episode 4 of Olaf Presents, Olaf tells the classic story of the diamond in the rough, Aladdin. He points out several of the issues fans have with the story, including mentioning that the Sultan should just change the rules to allow Jasmine to marry who she wants since he has the authority to do so.

Marshmallow is perfect as the Cave of Wonders and Sven gets to portray Jasmine. Olaf also does his best to imitate the Genie and notes that apparently making pop culture references is a necessity of becoming a genie.

3 Tangled

The fifth and final episode of Olaf Presents features Olaf telling the story of the modern fan-favorite movie Tangled, which he claims is a story about a “close personal friend” of his. Several Frozen characters get to represent their Tangled counterparts with Sven playing Maximus and Bruni playing Pascal.

The funniest running joke in the episode is Olaf repeatedly trying to do Flynn Rider’s signature smolder. Olaf also recreates some of the movie’s best musical numbers, including the iconic floating lanterns scene, thanks to some help from Gale.

2 The Lion King

Beginning with his own rendition of “The Circle of Life,” the third episode of Olaf Presents sees Olaf reenact The Lion King. Olaf does not shy away from depicting Mufasa’s shocking death scene, recreating it with the Snowgies as the stampede of wildebeest. He then illustrates just how upsetting the death scene is by pointing out that Mufasa initially survived the stampede before his own brother attacked and betrayed him.

Some of the other highlights of the episode include Sven playing Scar, Marshmallow coming out of a pile of snow to recreate Mufasa appearing in the clouds, and Olaf noting how odd it is that Mufasa eats some of his own subjects.

1 The Little Mermaid

In the first episode of Olaf Presents, he takes on the iconic film that started the Disney Renaissance, The Little Mermaid. He plays most of the roles with Sven portraying Prince Eric. He also sings a couple of bars of a couple of The Little Mermaid‘s best songs, including “Part of Your World.”

Olaf plays a perfect King Triton, emphasizing his impressive physique and calling Ariel a “garbage collector.” In recapping the movie as only he can, he has some hilarious lines including describing the poor unfortunate souls as “emaciated shrimp.” He also gets a great callback to one of his most memorable lines from the original Frozen when he reenacts Ursula’s demise and says “I’ve been impaled.”
