Ice-type Pokemon are some of the most underrated in Pokemon Sword & Shield. This guide will provide a list of the best Ice-type Pokemon in the game. Pokemon Sword & Shield is the first entry in the series to ever receive a paid DLC pass. With the Pokemon Sword & Shield expansion pass, players were able to visit new locations in the Galar region, find over 200 older Pokemon from previous generations, capture new Legendary Pokemon, and discover new stories within the region. This new DLC brought the total count of Pokemon available in the game to over 600. Now, there are tons of different Ice-type Pokemon for players to choose from. Here are the best Ice-type Pokemon available in the game.

Ice-type Pokemon are great for taking down Flying, Grass, Bug, and Dragon-type Pokemon. Before the sixth generation with Pokemon X and Y and the creation of Fairy-type Pokemon (whose entire existence is to nerf the Dragon-types), Ice-types were the ones used to bring down the Dragons. They do still have their uses like being able to potentially freeze Pokemon for a few turns. There are a handful of Ice-types introduced in Pokemon Sword & Shield that when combined with another type, are some of the best Pokemon in the game. Here are the best Ice-type Pokemon available in Pokemon Sword & Shield.

The Best Ice-Types in Pokemon Sword & Shield

Here are the best Ice-type Pokemon available in the game.

  • Arctozolt: This is one of the Pokemon that players can create by messing around with the Fossils. This Ice/Electric Pokemon has a vast move pool of Special Moves to support its large Special Attack stat. It’s also has a decent Physical Attack stat as well to mix it up. Give this Pokemon a Choice Specs and it could be a threat.
  • Frosmoth: Another Pokemon introduced in the Galar region. Players can find it in the Hammerlocke Hills or Giant’s Cap. Its Special Attack is the best part of all of its stats along with its Special Defense. Although, allow it to set up a few Quiver Dances and this Pokemon can sweep any team.
  • Vanilluxe: The final evolve of Vanillite and evolves at level 47. Another solid Ice-type with great Special Attack and Special Defense. It’s also a bit faster than Frosmoth. A great alternative.

While the adventures in Pokemon Sword & Shield have come to a close, it’s only a matter of time before the next Pokemon adventure is revealed. It’s currently the 25th anniversary of the series so it’s likely the Pokemon Company will have tons of exciting announcements throughout the year. Fans all around the world can’t wait to see what’s next to come.
