As Genshin Impact enters its long-awaited Version 1.6 update, the game continues its pattern of re-running previous banner characters. While new character Kazuha won’t be out for a few more weeks, players are still excited that the adorable Spark Knight Klee will be available for players once more.

Klee is a Pyro catalyst user, whose unique abilities make her a fun yet high-skilled DPS unit. While initially considered a lower-tier five-star character, Klee has proved herself to be a fantastic damage dealer as players have figured out how to use her. This guide will explain what artifacts, weapons, and talents should be built to best maximize Klee’s damage potential.

How to Build Klee

Klee exclusively deals Pyro damage, and her catalyst abilities give her more range than the standard melee character. Here are all of Klee’s abilities and how they work:

Normal Attack: Kaboom!

  • Klee’s normal attack performs up to 3 explosive attacks, dealing AoE Pyro DMG.The charged version deals increased Pyro DMG to enemies after a short casting time.

Elemental Skill: Jumpty Dumpty

  • When thrown, the bomb Jumpty Dumpty bounces three times before igniting and dealing AoE Pyro DMG. Pyro DMG is also dealt with every bounce. On the third bounce, the bomb splits into a bunch of mines that explode upon contact with enemies.

Elemental Burst: Sparks ‘n’ Splash

  • Klee continuously summons Sparks ‘n’ Splash to attack nearby enemies, dealing AoE Pyro DMG.

Since Klee is a main DPS and will spend most of her time on the field, players should level up her Normal Attack first, followed by the Burst, and then her Elemental Skill. Leveling up Klee’s talents requires Freedom books, Divining scrolls, and Wolf of the North boss drops.

Klee’s Pyro kit makes a 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames the best artifact set to use on her. Klee should run an ATK% Hourglass, Pyro DMG Bonus% Cup, and Crit Rate or Crit DMG hat (depending on what needs the stat increase).

Like with most DPS builds, the Sub Stats on all of Klee’s artifacts should prioritize Crit DMG and Crit Rate. Crit Rate and Crit DMG should be at a 1:2 ratio (ie 60% Crit Rate should be matched with around 120% Crit DMG). After Crit Rate and Crit DMG, players should prioritize ATK%, and then Elemental Mastery to increase the damage done from any reactions.

For her weapon, there are a few catalyst weapons that work well on Klee. For five-star weapons, a Skyward Atlas gives an ATK bonus as well as a stackable Elemental DMG bonus thanks to its skill. Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds also works, giving a Crit Rate boost as well as a minor Elemental DMG and Movement Speed boost because of its skill. For Free to Play players, Mappa Mare gives a big Elemental Mastery bonus with its additional stat as well as its skill. Klee is relatively flexible when it comes to her best-in-slot weapon, so players should work with what they have and see what they like best. Overall, ATK and Elemental Mastery weapons work great on her.

For team compositions, there are several characters that work well alongside Klee. Having another Pyro character on the team like Xiangling will give Klee additional Pyro DMG thanks to the Pyro Elemental Resonance buff. Fischl is a great Sub-DPS as Oz can stay on the field without Fischl, allowing Klee to deal tons of Overcharge damage. Qiqi is one of the best healers for Klee, as her talisman heals whoever’s on the field based on the amount of elemental damage done. For players without her, a hydro support like Barbara or Xingqiu can provide helpful Vaporize synergy for extra damage.

The way Klee’s abilities function make her a bit more difficult to play than some other characters, so players should practice to increase the success in which they play her. With enough time and resources put into her, the Spark Knight can become one of the best damage dealers in the game, so players who are lucky enough to pull Klee should definitely invest in her!

Genshin Impact is available now on PC, Mobile, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4.
