New World features a robust weapon-based skill system, including builds for weapons like swords, shields, and rapiers. The best builds are different for each weapon and depend on the player’s personal preferences. Whether players are trying to play PvE or PvP in New World, there are certain skills characters must unlock and master to create the best rapier build.

There are 19 total mastery points players can distribute between each weapon’s skill trees. The skill trees for the rapier are “Blood” and “Grace.” Each of the skill trees contains useful skills characters can master; however, most of the mastery points for the best rapier builds go into the Grace tree. Depending on whether players are trying to excel at PvE or PvP, the selected skills will be slightly different.

In PvE, players should be focused on dealing damage to enemies and avoiding incoming damage. The best rapier build for PvE places 13 points in the Grace skill tree and six points in the Blood skill tree. In PvP, players are fighting against other players and must have different focuses. The best rapier build for PvP puts 17 points Into Grace and two points into Blood. Other in-game factors, like a player’s location or the faction they choose, will not affect weapon builds.

Creating The Best Rapier Builds In New World

The skills players should acquire for the best PvE Rapier build in New World are:

Evade: Perform a small, reliable sidestep in the character’s current movement direction that cancels any current activity and provides momentary invulnerability. Light Attacks made during Evade are performed exceptionally fast.Breathe In: Gain 20 stamina immediately.Allegro: Gain 20% movement speed for three seconds.Adagio: Evading forward increases damage by 15% on the next light attack.Crescendo: Individual successful light attacks reduce the cooldown of this ability by 30% each.Fleche: Lunge forward 10 meters, doing 145% damage.Quick Lunge: Killing with this ability reduces its cooldown by 80%.Backside: After performing Fleche, the next critical attack is increased by 15%Interruption: Pressing ‘Light Attack’ any time during Fleche will stop and perform an attack dealing 115% damage.Flurry: Unleash a series of five thrust attacks that increase in damage with each strike.Overwhelm: Each hit of Flurry does 25% more block damage.Fleeting Strikes: Each hit of Flurry reduces the cooldown of this ability by 7%.Desperation: Deal 10% more damage when stamina is below 40%.Perfectionist: Deal 10% more damage when at full health.Red Curtains: Critical strikes reduce all cooldowns by 5%.Refreshing Strikes: Reduce all cooldowns by 1% on any hit.Engarde: Deal 10% more damage when the target has greater than 50% health.Light Edge: Increase damage from both middle swipe attacks in the light attack chain by 8%.

The skills for the best PvP build are the same, with a couple key differences. For the PvP build, players should ignore Light Edge, Flurry, Overwhelm, and Fleeting Strikes. Instead, they should put those mastery points into Riposte, Insult to Injury, Priority, and Lasting Consequence. The rest of the skills are the same for PvE and PvP rapier builds. With the massive influx of New World players and the game’s focus on PvP fighting, a good PvP-centered build may be especially important.
