A television series needs plenty of things to be a long-term success, and one of them is a good cast. Luckily for Scrubs, they had a great one.

From its main seven to its supporting players to its famous guest stars, almost everyone to appear on the show did an excellent job. In fact, they all did so well that’s it’s hard to imagine them as anyone else but the characters they play in the show.

Yet, each of the main cast members has had successful careers outside of the medical dramedy. And IMDb can help identify which has been each one’s best project.

10 Robert Maschio (Todd): Veronica Mars – 8.3

From the very beginning of Scrubs, Robert Maschio played the dim-witted yet talented surgeon, Todd. He was most known for his constant innuendos and creative high-fives. And while Maschio didn’t have many lines per episode, the actor was always able to make the most of what he was given.

Alongside Scrubs, the most impressive show that Maschio has been a part of is Veronica Mars. The popular series was about a young private investigator solving mysteries. Maschio had a small role in the season two episode, “One Angry Veronica.”

9 Donald Faison (Turk): Adventure Time – 8.6

Donald Faison’s Turk was one of the leading characters in the series. And his most memorable moments came alongside JD as the duo shared one of the funniest friendships in television history. Although, Faison proved many times that he could deliver strong dramatic performances too.

Faison fans might’ve expected Clueless or Remember the Titans to be the actor’s highest-rated non-Scrubs role. But instead, that distinction is given to an animated series about a young boy and his dog going on exciting adventures, aka Adventure Time. Faison guest-starred in an episode as Princess Cookie, who aimed to overthrow the ruler of Candy Kingdom.

8 John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox): Justice League Unlimited – 8.7

During Scrubs’ nine seasons, John C. McGinley regularly stole the show as Dr. Cox. The actor expertly delivered countless clever insults, laugh-out-loud rants, and deeply emotional speeches. And he made an often prickly character extremely likable.

With a resume consisting of classics such as Seven, Point Break, and Platoon, it’s a little surprising that an animated series is McGinley’s best (according to IMDb). The series in question is Justice League Unlimited, which featured the titular supergroup protecting the world from evildoers. McGinley appeared in a few episodes as the Superhero known as Atom.

7 Neil Flynn (The Janitor): Seinfeld – 8.8

The Janitor was definitely one of the most bizarre characters in Scrubs, which was what made him so entertaining. Neil Flynn should get significant credit for that as he was known for ad-libbing plenty of the character’s lines.

Another beloved comedy that Flynn appeared on was Seinfeld. The sitcom was about a group of often morally questionable people who lived in New York. Despite the basic premise, it is widely regarded as one of the best shows ever. Flynn got to play a small part in it as a cop during season 8’s “Summer of George” episode.

6 Sam Lloyd (Ted): The West Wing – 8.8

The late, great Sam Lloyd was hilarious as the unlucky lawyer, Ted Buckland. While the character was decent in the beginning, he got better and better over the seasons. Eventually, he became one of the most beloved supporting characters in the series.

Another one of Lloyd’s best shows was The West Wing, which was a political drama about certain members of the White House staff. The actor in question was in two episodes of the show as a conspiracy theorist named Bob.

5 Aloma Wright (Laverne): Friends – 8.9

Another cherished member of Scrubs’ supporting cast was Aloma Wright. She played the Jesus-loving, no-nonsense nurse known as Laverne. The character could sometimes be a little stereotypical, yet she was constantly entertaining nonetheless.

Wright has done plenty of other TV work during her career, including one of the most famous shows ever, Friends. The actress made a short appearance in season five of the sitcom as a saleswoman that refused to accept Ross’s destroyed couch.

4 Ken Jenkins (Dr. Kelso): Gravity Falls – 8.9

For the first few years of Scrubs, Dr. Kelso was a true villain that cared more about the hospital’s finances than people’s lives. Ken Jenkins was great at being the heartless bad guy, but he was even better when the character started to loosen up a bit, and he could show more of his comedic chops.

The actor has had a long career dating back to the ’70s. Yet, his highest-rated series aired not too long ago. That show was Gravity Falls, a comedy about twins who spent their summer in an unusual town in Oregan. Jenkins played Pa Duskerton, who was one-half of an elderly ghost couple.

3 Judy Reyes (Carla): The Sopranos – 9.2

As the most mature member of the Sacred Heart family, Carla spent a lot of her time being the voice of reason during the show. However, Judy Reyes truly shined as the character when she was able to show a more humorous side.

Not many shows are more critically-acclaimed than Scrubs, but The Sopranos is one of them. The crime drama follows the life of Tony Soprano, an influential New Jersey mob boss. Reyes appeared briefly in a season two episode as the girlfriend of Paulie Gualtieri.

2 Zach Braff (JD): The Sixth Lead – 9.2

While Scrubs had a group of main characters, the true lead was JD. From his deep end-of-episode summaries to some of his wacky running gags, the charismatic doctor was a constant highlight throughout the series. And Zach Braff was outstanding in the role.

The actor is known for directing some of his own features such as Garden State, Wish I Was Here, and Going In Style. But his best role, according to IMDb, is the unique mockumentary web-series, The Sixth Lead. The show acted as a spin-off to another series called Undateable as it followed the professional life of Rick Glassman – one of the actors on the sitcom. Braff guest-starred in one episode as himself and spoke with the struggling actor.

1 Sarah Chalke (Elliot): Rick And Morty – 9.2

Elliot Reid developed a lot during the series as she went from an extremely nervous intern to a confident and capable doctor. One thing that remained the same, though, was that Sarah Chalke did an amazing job playing her.

Although, by the end of her career, Elliot might not be the actresses’ most famous role. This is because she also voices Beth in the supremely popular Rick and Morty. The comedy series follows the two titular characters as they go on crazy misadventures together. And Chalke’s Beth plays a major role in the show.
