As the series has progressed, Borderlands has grown ever larger and more ridiculous, and that all seemed to culminate in Borderlands 3. This third main entry in the series is bigger than ever and packs more missions and guns into the game than players have ever had access too. Players also have the option of purchasing several different DLC packs for the game that add even more content for them to explore.

While the main story line of the game is a lot of fun, the best aspects of Borderlands 3 are its different side missions. These missions are typically a lot of fun and put the player in a wide array of odd and hilarious situations. Not only this, but they typically give out some really nice rewards as well. This guide shows players the best missions for them to check out in Borderlands 3.

Borderlands 3: Best Side Missions

Kill Killavolt- If players go and talk to Moxxi in Sanctuary III she will give them this amazingly fun mission to Kill Killavolt. Killavolt is a fairly popular streamer that hosts his own battle royale game that can be competed in. The objective is to make it all the way through this mission and eliminate Killavolt at the end. What makes this mission special though is the obvious spoof of the popular Battle-Royale genre of games. The boss battle at the end is also an incredible amount of fun.

Let’s Get It Vaughn- This is another mission that spoofs on a part of pop-culture, and this time the target is game shows. The titular Vaughn has fallen in love with a bandit game show girl, and he needs your help to get through the game and catch the girl’s attention. The twist to this game show is that no matter what choice players pick to each answer the outcome is the same. The other contestants will freak out and the player is forced to kill everyone. As the last one standing, the players is the winner and they can then help Vaughn on his quest for love.

Childhood’s End- This is a rare mission in the world of Borderlands in that it isn’t ridiculous or silly at all, but rather somber and fills in the backstory for a character from the second game. The whole premise of this mission has players exploring Konrad’s Hold as they uncover the memories of the character Angel. This is a pretty sad but wonderful mission for fans of the series.

Fire In The Sky- After the death of Typhon DeLeon a final message was found from him that was left for his two robot companions Grouse and Sparrow. Grouse becomes extremely upset after listening to the message that asks him to lighten up and maybe start dancing like his counterpart Sparrow. This is actually a pretty sweet mission that shows Grouse heeding the words of his master and learning how to dance for once.

Cannonization- This is another mission featuring the eternally grouchy robot Grouse, but this mission spoofs one of the most beloved comedy movies of all time: Ghostbusters. Grouse tasks the players with helping him complete a massive laser device that can trap spirits in some kind of energy field. The mission ends with a terrific reference to the Billy Murray classic.

Sellout- This is a pretty short mission, but it hilariously shows off the demented mind of one of the game’s villains. Players will discover a photo booth that kills people instead of taking their picture, and of course, Tyreen Calypso tries to convince the player to hop inside to kill themselves. Those who listen will be rewarded with a brand new pistol for making the villain happy.

Capture The Frag- This is another mission featuring the main villains of Borderlands 3, but this time they are having a little more fun. Troy and Tyreen have started up a game where they have pitted their minions against each other in a fight to the death. Players are given the opportunity to hop into the game themselves as their own team and are urged to eliminate the entirety of the participants.

Swamp Bro- Chadd may be the best Borderlands character ever created, and this mission is all about him. At first players are tasked with running through the swamp with him as he punches ravagers to death with his bare hands. This obviously goes poorly for Chadd and he winds up injured. He then asks the player to help him with a crazy stunt that winds up immortalizing the guy forever.

Circle Of Slaughter- The Borderlands games have almost all had some form of arena-style horde mode, and Borderlands 3 is no different. There are three separate places that players can go to engage in these circles, and each one offers a really fun and interesting challenge.

Maliwannabees- This quest is a lot of fun because players have the ability to make three different choices at the end. Ziff wants revenge for the death of her family, but it turns out that both of the suspects, Max and Rax, claim they did it. These monstrous soldiers both brag about killing Ziff’s family, so the player is tasked with deciding which one did it. The best part about this mission is that players can just decide to kill both of them for being jerks.

Borderlands 3can be played on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
