Nintendo’s new hack-and-slash game Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is now on the Nintendo Switch and players have the ability to switch between some of their favorite Breath of the Wild characters. Most of these characters only have a few different weapons to choose from, but others still give players a pretty big selection.

It should come as no surprise that Link himself has the largest selection of weapons in Age of Calamity. Players have three different weapon types to choose from that each has their own distinct move sets, which will allow players to pick a weapon that best fits their playstyle. Within each of these weapon styles, players will be able to choose between more than a dozen different weapons. This guide shows players the best weapons available for Link.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Best Swords for Link

One-handed swords are Link’s bread and butter, so most players will probably want to pick this weapon style for him. With one-handed swords, Link will have a short reach, but will be able to move and attack much faster. It’s easier to avoid enemy attacks with a one-handed sword as well. The best one-handed weapons are:

  • Master Sword- The Master Sword is Link’s signature weapon and by far the best one at his disposal. It has the third-highest damage rating, but its power isn’t what makes the Master Sword so impressive. It emits light beams every time Link swings it when he is at full health, which makes it capable of dealing large amounts of damage to all enemies.
  • Lizal Boomerang- The Lizal Boomerang is incredibly impressive mostly because of its ranged capabilities. Players are able to throw the weapon at their enemies and it has a higher damage rating than even the Master Sword. The downside here though is that it has a very short range when swung.
  • Royal Broadsword- The one-handed sword with the most potential for raw damage is the Royal Broadsword. There isn’t anything particularly special about it other than the fact that it sports the highest damage rating possible for a one-handed weapon.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Best Spears for Link

Spears are a particularly interesting choice for Link to use, mostly because they give him a ridiculous reach in combat. They aren’t as fast as one-handed weapons or as strong as two-handed weapons, but spears allow Link to attack enemies from a distance while still dishing out quite a bit of damage. The biggest downside to spears though is that there really aren’t any with special abilities, so the only thing that players will be looking for when it comes to a spear is one with a high damage rating. The Silverscale Spear and Ceremonial Trident are decent options for the player to pick, but by far the best weapon available to Link is the Royal Halberd. This weapon’s damage rating the highest out of any spear in the game.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Best Two-Handed Weapons For Link

Those who want nothing more than to deal as much damage as possible will want to pick up a two-handed weapon for Link as soon as possible. These weapons will be swung incredibly slow compared to the other weapon types, but nothing can match their pure damage output. Similar to the spears though there really aren’t any weapons with special abilities so players will want to seek out those with the highest damage outputs. The Lynel Crusher and Drillshaft are solid choices for much of the game, but players will want to use the Royal Guard’s Claymore as soon as they can.
