Season 7 of The Blacklist faced a lot of criticism. The season primarily focused on the mysterious relationship between Reddington and Katarina. Many of the episodes were poorly received, leaving the IMDb ratings for this season much lower than the previous ones. In fact, this season even contains the worst-rated episode of The Blacklist ever.

But even in a season plagued by poor reception, there are still some episodes that fans enjoyed. So let’s examine the episodes from this season that were the lowest-rated and the ones that were the highest-rated.

10 Worst: Episode 11: Victoria Fenberg (No. 137) – 7.3

After being cheated out of numerous pieces of valuable art, Reddington sends the task force after an art forger. But even as they work to protect valuable pieces of art, they will find that stopping her plan will be difficult.

Meanwhile, Aram begins to reevaluate his decisions as he questions his relationships and Ressler shares new information with Liz about her mother, Katarina.

9 Best: Episode 8: The Hawaladar (No. 162) – 8.5

Reddington is desperate to locate and make contact with an old friend of his. In order to trace him, Reddington gives the task force a case that he believes will help him in his mission, sending the task force after someone who specializes in transferring money without detection.

A disturbing conversation with Agnus has Liz concerned about her wellbeing and the woman she has entrusted with Agnus’ care.

8 Worst: Episode 15: Gordon Kemp (No. 158) 7.3

While in a store, Reddington begins speaking to a friendly young woman who is excited over her acceptance into college. He celebrates this moment with her, only to find her dead shortly after as a result of a robbery.

This leaves Reddington angry with a gun manufacturer who is taking advantage of the system to intentionally increase gun presence in low-income communities. When he decides to rob the manufacturer, the task force must try to stop him and Liz is placed in a difficult position. Reddington also checks up on Ilya who is not doing well following the torture he endured while captured by Katarina.

7 Best: Episode 10: Katarina Rostova (No. 3) – 8.5

During an epic scene, Liz finally realizes that the woman who has been helping her watch Agnus is her mother, Katarina Rostova. She is unsure of who to trust in this situation, weary due to the deceptive way she has entered her life.

When Katarina shares that Reddington is still lying about his identity, Liz decides to help her flee as the task force and Reddington work to apprehend her.

6 Worst: Episode 17: Brothers – 7.2

This episode provides insight into Ressler’s past as fans meet his brother for the first time and learn about the relationship between the two. Through flashbacks, it is revealed that Ressler was a troubled child who murdered a cop responsible for the death of his father.

Donald’s brother, who was determined to be a cop and do the right thing, was forced to cover up the crime to protect Ressler, sending Robby down a troubled path. When Robby gets himself into some trouble, the brothers are in danger of their crimes being exposed.

5 Best: Episode 9: Orion Relocation Services (No. 159) – 8.6

In an attempt to track down Katarina, Reddington gives the task force a case. They are attempting to take down Orion Relocation Services, a company that provides new lives for criminals by murdering someone and having the criminal assume their identity.

But as Reddington searches for Katarina, Liz discovers that the woman he is looking for has been living across the hallway and interacting with Angus and Elizabeth the entire time. She confronts Katarina who confesses her identity. Unbeknownst to Liz, in the apartment across the hall, Katarina is torturing Ilya Koslov and attempting to penetrate his memories to find answers that will help her survive.

4 Worst: Episode 7: Hannah Hayes (No. 125) – 7.0

The task force finds themselves chasing a criminal who abducts high-profile male pro-life advocates and conducts surgery on them. During the procedure, she impregnates the men by implanting female reproductive organs.

Reddington and Dembe continue to track Katarina by tracing those closest to her. While at the park with Agnus, Katarina is forced to kill men who are a threat to her.

3 Best: Episode 1: Louis T. Steinhil (No. 27) – 8.7

During the season premiere, fans find Reddington in a dangerous situation as he is tied up and tortured by Katarina for information. Dembe and the task force go to great lengths to determine Reddington’s whereabouts.

This leads to the task force searching for a criminal known as The Illusionist in hopes that he will be able to help them. Liz and Ressler share what they have learned about Reddington’s identity with Cooper and Aram.

2 Worst: Episode 19: The Kazanjian Brothers (No. 156/157) – 6.1

Due to COVID, production was shut down on The Blacklist and the show made the creative decision to animate parts of the episode in order to provide some closure to the season. Though this was a noble attempt, some parts of the episode were unsuccessful, leading to poor fan reception.

In this episode, the task force follows an accountant who works for high-profile criminals in an attempt to get close to The Kazanjian Brothers. Meanwhile, Liz has been secretly aiding and protecting Katarina while trying to maintain her relationship with Reddington. When Dembe and Reddington begin to suspect that Liz, she is forced to make a decision and pick sides.

1 Best: Episode 2: Louis T. Steinhil (No. 27): Conclusion – 8.7

While being held captive by Katarina, Reddington seemingly gains an ally who helps him escape. However, he later discovers that his getaway was actually planned by Katarina. Reddington accidentally leads Katarina to her father, Dom, as she desperately tries to find information about Reddington’s past.

As Reddington begins searching for Katarina, she secretly moves in across the hall from Elizabeth.
