Amazon Prime’s The Boys has an impressive amount of high-rated episodes by the IMDb. In fact, almost all of them have scored impressively. The score never goes under a bare minimum of 7.9, which showcases fantastic consistency. That isn’t surprising at all for a show as well played out as this one.

The show is, indeed, teeming with remarkable scenes, whether it’s because they move or shock you. The episodes are so well structured and the plot rarely gets boring or unimpressive. The bar is high and consistent throughout both seasons, in terms of character development, psychology, action, dialogue, and story plots. Thus, here are the episodes that succeeded the most.

10 Get Some – 8.5

The third episode of the first season ranks last on this list – despite its pretty high score. The tension is high in this episode, as Hughie previously killed one of The Seven’s members, Translucent, and Homelander found his corpse.

Tensions also grew as A-Train competes for the title of the fastest man alive. Seeing the Boys reunite for one of the first times also makes one of the best elements of this episode.

9 Cherry – 8.6

“Cherry” is one of the most iconic episodes of the series. This episode is named after Hughie popped his cherry (lost-his-virginity sense) by killing his first Supe and it is a pretty powerful and overwhelming scene.

The audience gets to see Hughie’s pain, his psychology, and then the loss of his innocence. The dialogue and plot twists throughout make the episode complicated, but definitely unforgettable.

8 The Female Of The Species – 8.8

Another very important episode is “The Female Of The Species,” in which The Female, or rather Kimiko Miyashiro, is introduced. She’s at first very scary – and her scenes quite gory – but then her personality starts also getting explored.

First bonds are made (Frenchie starts approaching Kimiko) and the violent action scenes can completely take the breath away – for instance, when Kimiko recklessly kills multiple men with her bare hands and sneaky speed during her escape.

7 The Name Of The Game – 8.8

Of course, the first episode of the show was going to get such a high score – it gave the series a strong start. Everything is new, often fast, and gory, but the more the story develops the more captivating it gets.

The plot twists or unexpected scenes like Robin’s sudden death and Homelander’s destruction of a plane are great. There are also the first sparkles of future alliances, which play a big part of the first episode’s enjoyability.

6 The Self-Preservation Society – 8.9

The eighth episode of the first season is a roller coaster of emotions: Starlight finds out about Hughie’s betrayal in one of the most unforgettable moments. It also was Rebecca’s, Butcher’s long lost wife, first appearance in a flashback in which she, her husband, and Homelander all interact together for the very first time.

Meanwhile, Hughie and A-Train finally confront, both angry at each other because of their ex-girlfriends’ deaths, in an unforgettable scene filled with tension.

5 Over The Hill With The Swords Of A Thousand Men – 9.1

A lot of things happen in the third episode of The Boys’ second season: Stormfront’s real violent personality starts coming out, a new super “terrorist” (Kimiko’s brother) enters the scene, and more news comes out about Compound V.

It was also one of the few times in which Deep’s powers get displayed so greatly: he hunts the Boys down with sharks and almost tragically ends their escape – if Butcher didn’t drive his boat into the whale Deep was using to stop them. It’s surely one of the goriest and remarkable scenes of the series, one not so easy to forget.

4 The Bloody Doors Off – 9.1

“The Bloody Doors Off” is the sixth episode of the second season, another one full of plot twists and wild action scenes. Here, Mother’s Milk, Frenchie, and Kimiko secretly sneak into a psychiatric facility of Vought’s, as they investigate Compound V and the company.

Not long passes before crazy things happen. The people held in that facility turned out to be guinea pigs for Compound V and started causing the massive destruction of the facility after escaping, gaining Stormfront’s attention. It stays one of the heaviest and most shocking episodes, especially considering some of the prisoner’s powers, as well as the backstory of Lamplighter.

3 Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker – 9.1

This episode is, besides sensational, scary in so many ways. Starting with Stormfront’s villainy, as she speaks to the public and manipulates them into believing that a super terrorist could be recognized by their skin color and a glimmer in their eyes, leading people to believe her and thus to be more defensive and violent.

The viewers get an idea of how disastrous it would be if she and Homelander managed to achieve their goals. But they aren’t the only superheroes bringing unexpected tension to the screen. A-Train goes under the church’s wing and apologizes to Deep for his past harmful action – a pretty important step for the person who somewhat started all this mess by killing Robin.

2 You Found Me – 9.1

“You Found Me” is the first season’s final episode, and a pretty spectacular one. Compound V surprises and shocks as it is revealed that Supes weren’t actually born with superpowers, but were made this way thanks to an agreement between their parents and Vought, which deeply hurts and disappoints Starlight, especially as it also caused the undoing of her family.

This is also the episode in which the infamous Madelyn Stillwell gets explicitly violently killed by the last person you’d expected: Homelander. His confrontation with Billy Butcher, in the final scene, was one of the most incredible moments from the whole series and it all ends on a great cliffhanger.

1 What I Know – 9.5

The final episode of the second season might even be crazier and gorier than the previous season’s. Stormfront secretly plans to use Homelander’s son, Ryan, as a symbol of the new perfect race. Queen Maeve is the one who saves the situation more effectively than the Boys could’ve done on their own as she manages to aggressively beat Stormfront up and is later joined by Kimiko and Starlight.

Later, Rebecca manages to stab her eye, but she then gets accidentally killed by Ryan, who was using his powers to save her from Stormfront. The latter was annihilated so severely that when Homelander arrived, she was missing body parts and rambling in German. He would’ve killed Butcher and taken Ryan with him if only Queen Maeve didn’t save the situation again by blackmailing him. It’s surely an episode full of ups and downs, violence, and goriness, but also a well-written plot and strong dialogue. That all makes this high score well-deserved – without even mentioning the final scene!
