Tango_indubitably’s amazing cosplay of Billy Butcher is a great way to start off this list, as it hits all the right notes and sets a good standard for what a cosplay of the character should look like (something every cosplayer secretly hopes their cosplay will do).

The design is good, the hair is well-matched to Butcher’s own, and the cosplayer is even brave enough to carry around a crowbar (you’ve got to give them props for that). Chicago-based photographer TheDarkSuburbaKnight does a killer job of putting the shot together, and the end result is certainly a stunner.

The cosplayer gives the camera a hard stare that illustrates the character’s gruff personality and wanton taste for destruction, while some spectacular lighting gives him a greenish aura representative of his determination and ambition.

Andy Hughes knocks it out of the park with this spectacular Billy Butcher cosplay that stays true to the character’s rough look and his odd sense of style.

As he says, it’s somewhat of a blend between the TV version and the version from the comics, so he’s not exactly a dead ringer for Karl Urban, but he gets the character right nonetheless.

Maybe it’s just the dark background surrounding him, but this cosplay also really brings out Butcher’s ruthless side, arguably the most important part of his character (especially during the comic series’ final issues).

Cosplayer Bruma_roja proves themselves to be a formidable force in the cosplay community with this magnificent piece of Billy Butcher cosplay. Butcher isn’t a character who’s easy to cosplay — even his simplest features can be treacherous to attempt to duplicate. But this cosplayer smoothly navigates those complications, making one of the most difficult characters to cosplay there is seem almost easy.

The photographer, 0_715.97, adds their own special touch to the final product, making it entirely deserving of being ranked as one of the best.

Cosplayer IamFaramon offers yet another great take on Billy Butcher, taking every one of the character’s most important qualities and maximizing them — so his Hawaiian shirt is now more prominently displayed, his rivalry with Homelander is less-than-subtly hinted at, and his dry expression is emphasized.

It’s truly a tribute to the character that shows that both the cosplayer and the photographer have a firm understanding of him.
