One of the more interesting and underappreciated storylines of the first season of Amazon Prime’s The Boys was that of Annie January, a.k.a Starlight, portrayed by Erin Moriarty. From her journey within the Seven to her relationship with Hughie Campbell, Starlight’s plotline through season one left plenty to desire.

Supposedly just a couple months away at this point, season two of The Boys should answer plenty of the questions Starlight left fans with after season one. If you haven’t yet finished the show’s first season, be warned, massive spoilers lay ahead.

10 Is She Framed For Killing A-Train?

In season one’s final episode, one of Starlight’s final moments saw her taking on the wildly dangerous and mentally unstable A-Train. Utilizing what looked like the whole range of her powers, she tried but was unsuccessful in taking down A-Train.

Although A-Train’s own heart was eventually the thing that took him down, it seems very likely that Homelander and the Seven could put the blame on Starlight if it turns out he’s dead, since she was most likely found with his lifeless body. Actually killing A-Train seems like a fairly unlikely scenario, but considering the way the show left off with him, there’s not much reason to believe that he survived. If he did survive, however, that poses another question of whether or not he’ll go after Starlight once again.

9 Did She Leave The Seven?

One question about Starlight that everyone is asking is whether or not she’ll leave the Seven. As season one progressed, her status within the supe group quickly became more and more unclear. After the fight with A-Train, you can pretty much assume that she’ll be on her way out once season two rolls around.

If that is the case, you have to wonder how her exit will be handled. Will she formally leave the group, causing a public firestorm? Or will she just distance herself from them as the season goes on? No matter how things play out, it’s safe to say that Starlight’s time in the Seven is just about over. That should open up a brand new storyline for Starlight that’ll see her try to take them down from within.

8 Does She Join The Boys?

With that new potential plotline in mind, you have to wonder whether or not Starlight will team up with the Boys in order to take down the Seven. In season one, she inadvertently helped Billy Butcher and his crew get intel on the Seven. With her newfound outlook on her childhood idols and supes as a whole, Starlight may just decide to join in the efforts of the Boys. A lot of that will depend on where she stands with Hughie in their relationship, but that’s an entirely separate issue that’ll be addressed later.

7 Will She Get More Vengeance On The Deep?

One of the most disturbing, and most uncomfortable, scenes in the entire first season is between Starlight and the Deep. Once the Deep was essentially excommunicated to Ohio, there wasn’t much interaction between the two supes.

From what the trailers have revealed about season two, it looks like the Deep will stay in the mix of things. You have to imagine that the writers won’t just leave him to rot in Ohio either. So, that makes you think that perhaps he and Starlight will be brought face-to-face once again, meaning Starlight could actually get her vengeance on the Deep once and for all. That may open up another opportunity to actually showcase some of the Deep’s actual power as well and how they’d interact and potentially negate those of Starlight.

6 Does She Turn Queen Maeve?

Throughout season one, Starlight wasn’t the only one who came to terms with how immoral the actions of the Seven were. Slowly, but surely, Queen Maeve began to realize how terrible the Seven, and mainly Homelander, truly were.

Her realizations certainly got her to distance herself from her counterparts somewhat, but she never truly opposed them in any way. At this point, if there is anyone who can truthfully turn Queen Maeve against the Seven, it would be Starlight. If that’ll actually happen is extremely unclear, but it could potentially create an even split between the members of the Seven.

5 Will She Be Replaced By Stormfront?

One thing that’s certain about The Boys’ second season is that more supes will continue to emerge. Another is that the Seven themselves are going to have to shake things up with Translucent gone, A-Train hospitalized, and Starlight most likely on her way out. One supe that’s confirmed to make their on-screen debut, with a slight makeover, comes straight from Garth Ennis’ comic series.

Stormfront, a character loosely based on a combination of Thor and Shazam, is one of the only named supes that’s confirmed to join the show. It’s very plausible to think that Starlight, as she slowly separates herself from the Seven, will be replaced by Stormfront. This seems incredibly likely considering that this makeover includes changing the character’s gender from male to female and the fact that the Seven will be down another female member. If, but more likely when, Starlight leaves the Seven, Stormfront seems like the one and only candidate to replace her.

4 Will We See A Bigger Range of Power?

Even after an entire season with the character, it still feels like a lot is unknown about Starlight’s true power. All that’s known is that she can create an intense flurry of sparks and light from her hands, seemingly using the electrical components around her. However, that, along with some minor moments showcasing her super-human strength, is basically all that we’ve seen. Hopefully, they decide to tap into her roots and show some of her abilities from the comics. It feels as though Starlight has a much wider range of powers to utilize that, hopefully, will be on full display in the second season.

3 Does She Fight Homelander?

Despite plenty of tension between the two throughout the first season, Starlight and Homelander never actually fought. Although it seems like that’d be a pretty lopsided battle, she might actually be able to hold her own more than you think.

In the trailer, there’s a brief glimpse of Homelander throwing Starlight into the wall of what looks to be an elevator. That certainly doesn’t confirm that the two are going to have some big cinematic fight, but it does confirm that the two will have an altercation. Either way, the rivalry between the two will seemingly carry over into season two, and maybe Starlight will even be the one to take down Homelander.

2 What Happens To Her Relationship With Hughie?

Annie’s relationship with Hughie was one of the highlights of season one. However, after she found out he was somewhat using her to get intel on the Seven, things between them became pretty unclear. How their relationship will play out in season two is one of the biggest questions surrounding Starlight’s character. Considering how much they built it up in the first season, it’s probably safe to assume they’ll find their way back to each other, but for now, it still remains up in the air. If they do wind up back together, it also could be the deciding factor of Starlight joining forces with the Boys or not.

1 Will She Operate Alone?

If Starlight ends up leaving the Seven and doesn’t end up teaming up with Butcher, Hughie, and the Boys, she might just operate on her own. What that would exactly entail isn’t clear, but you can assume that she’d carry out some kind of personal mission along the way.

Starlight’s been betrayed by nearly everyone throughout her life and, because of that, it might just be time for her to carry on alone. Although she’ll undoubtedly find her way back to the Boys or the Seven, who she’ll align herself with is arguably the biggest question surrounding her character and will unquestionably be cleared up early on in season two.
