The Boys actor Antony Starr was recently arrested for an alleged assault while in Spain shooting a movie. Starr is best known for his terrifying role as the evil superhero Homelander in the Amazon Original. The Boys season 3 is currently slated to release on June 3.

Starr was in Spain to shoot Guy Ritchie’s new action movie, The Interpreter, also starring Jake Gyllenhaal. The Interpreter is Ritchie’s latest in his repertoire of action films after directing the Sherlock Holmes box office hits starring Robert Downey Jr., last year’s The Gentlemen, and most recently Wrath Of ManThe Interpreter tells the story of Sergeant John Kinley and his interpreter, Ahmed, whose unit is ambushed in Afghanistan.

Variety reports Starr was convicted for assault at a court hearing on Thursday after spending two nights in police custody. He was arrested Wednesday morning when police were called due to a disturbance in a pub in Alicante. The chef, Bathuel Araujo, told police officers he was punched two times before a glass was smashed in his face. He was taken to a hospital and required four stitches on a wound above his eye. Starr was given a 12 month suspended prison sentence after admitting to the assault on the 21 year old chef.

La Informacion, Alicante’s biggest newspaper, reported that Starr’s 12 month prison sentence was suspended on the condition that he paid a $5,464 fine in the next 72 hours and did not commit any more crimes in the following two years. Starr was allegedly in a very inebriated state when the event occurred. A court official said “The sentence was the result of an agreement between the state prosecution service and the man who was subsequently convicted.” Starr’s arrest occurred just one week before Amazon is scheduled to hold The Boys panels at SXSW with many of the shows cast members. However, Starr was already not scheduled to appear due to filming for The Interpreter.

Starr has yet to issue a statement on the incident. While it is astounding to hear such news, it’s unclear if and when Starr will publicly address the incident. It is also unknown how this development might affect production of either The Interpreter or future seasons of The Boys. As long as Starr continues to cooperate with Spanish authorities, it’s unlikely any further action will occur. However, from a public relations standpoint, there could be further backlash to the incident. Currently, Antony Starr can be heard reprising his role as Homelander in spin-off show, The Boys: Diabolical, available now on Amazon Prime Video.
