The Boys season 2 introduced Congresswoman Victoria Neuman, a powerful supe after Vought-International, and the reason she hid her powers might be because she secretly wants to kill Homelander. The Amazon series has always been a surprising one when it comes to its many twists and turns. However, of all the characters in The Boys season 2, Victoria Neuman having superhuman abilities may have proven the most surprising one of all.

The season 2 finale not only revealed Victoria as a supe, but that she’d been working alongside the head of the Church of the Collective, Alastair Adana, to collect information on Vought — namely, his intel on Stormfront’s Nazi plans (which A-Train stole for Starlight and Hughie, who leaked it to the press) aided Victoria immensely in her fight against the powerful corporation. With Hughie going to work for Victoria’s political campaign at the end of season 2 and actress Claudia Doumit being promoted to a series regular for The Boys season 3, all signs point to Victoria being a major player moving forward.

Victoria’s backstory is still relatively mysterious. What is clear is that she despises Vought, the Seven, and all that they stand for. Victoria is obviously planning something big from the shadows and it’s possible her goals include bringing down Homelander first and foremost. In fact, the deadly supe may be the reason behind Victoria concealing her explosive powers to begin with.

Why Victoria Neuman’s Powers Are Important

Congresswoman Victoria Neuman immediately set herself up as a key player in The Boys season 2. Much of her political campaign included going after Vought, holding accountable their corruption and their attempts to militarize superhumans. Ever since the end of season 2, fans have been wondering why exactly Victoria kept her powers — which involves the ability to blow up people’s heads from a distance, seemingly with the power of her mind — a secret and how she was planning to use them with in the future.

The revelation of Victoria’s powers solved certain season 2 mysteries, including the shocking murder of CIA deputy director Susan Raynor, Alastair’s death, and the numerous amount of exploding heads during the congressional hearing for Vought. However, Victoria hiding her powers from everyone in The Boys suggests she was doing so for a specific reason. It’s possible she did not want to use them in public and out herself as a supe just yet because she intended to use her powers against Homelander. Victoria is obviously calculated and smart; if she wanted the world to know she had superhuman abilities, she probably would have revealed them by now. However, she seems intent on working in the shadows to advance her goals and showcasing her powers could blow her cover.

Why Victoria Didn’t Hide Her Powers In The Boys For Her Job

As a congresswoman, Victoria Neuman is under intense scrutiny by the media and the public. For the most part, supes are treated like celebrities in The Boys and Victoria coming clean about her powers while working as a government official could complicate her job and talking points. While there’s no telling how her colleagues and the public might react to her powers, it’s unlikely Victoria hid her abilities because of her job. After all, the world idolizes superheroes (to a fault) and it’s doubtful she concealed her powers for fear of losing her job. Supes are largely considered assets and the revelation of her abilities might have actually aided Victoria’s platform to an extent and, at the very least, would have created awareness to complement her arguments.

Victoria Neuman’s Relationship With Homelander

Victor is obviously against Vought. Her efforts throughout The Boys season 2 made that very clear. By the end of the season, she was running the Office of Superhuman Affairs, which aligns with her previous arguments against the corrupt and powerful corporation. However, taking down an entire corporate structure that is so closely intertwined with the government and its officials is no easy feat. Victoria’s aims may currently be directed toward taking down Homelander since he’s the biggest and most public symbol of Vought.

When speaking with Lamplighter, a former member of the Seven, Victoria says she wants to “bring down the king.” It’s possible she was alluding to Homelander, who is the physical manifestation of Vought’s power and the face of the company around the world. He’s also heralded as a hero, which maintains Vought’s good image as well. It’s why Stan Edgar, Vought’s CEO, was quick to throw Stormfront under the bus as the orchestrator of the Nazi plan at the end of The Boys season 2, leaving the company and Homelander out of it. Bringing down Homelander might be the key to weakening Vought, which is what Victoria could have in mind, thus rupturing the company’s entire power structure.

Victoria Neuman Hid Her Powers To Kill Homelander

Victoria Neuman hiding her powers is no coincidence in The Boys season 2 and it’s possible she concealed them from the public so she could eventually kill Homelander in secret. If her intention is to strip Vought of its power, the best way to do so is by getting rid of their best asset. What’s more, if Homelander became aware of Victoria’s abilities, he’d be more wary of her. In this vein, it would make sense why Victoria would want to keep them under wraps. For now, Homelander doesn’t really believe she’s a real threat because he’s under the impression Victoria is an average person with no advanced abilities.

Witnessing Victoria in action during season 2 reveals how easily she could kill Homelander without anyone being the wiser. After all, the audience watched as she blew up Alastair’s head and walked away with her hands clean. In the comics, it’s Black Noir who kills Homelander, but The Boys pushed him out of the running at the end of season 2. Being taken down by a nut allergy doesn’t exactly bode well for a final showdown between Black Noir and Homelander and the series hasn’t followed the comics exactly anyway, so it’s unlikely this will ever come to pass.

With all that in mind, Victoria has the power and the opportunity to kill Homelander in Black Noir’s place. The Boys is building up towards something major for Victoria Neuman’s storyline and, considering her personal agenda against Vought and her secret abilities, Homelander may very well be next on her kill list. She could be waiting for the most opportune moment to execute him and, because she hid her powers, Homelander would never see it coming. It’s possible this is what she’s had in mind from the start and has spent years setting things in motion. The Boys has been full of surprises and, considering how little the audience knows about Victoria’s big-picture plans, her actions in season 3 may be the most shocking of all.
